D&S quotes

"I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness. I want a man lying over me, always over me. His will, his pleasure, his desire, his life, his work, his sexuality the touchstone, the command, my pivot. I don't mind working, holding my ground intellectually, artistically; but as a woman, oh, as a woman I want to be dominated. I don't mind being told to stand on my own feet, not to cling all that I am capable of doing but I am going to be pursued, fucked, possessed by the will of a male at his time, his bidding."-- Anais Nin

"How delicious to corrupt, to stifle all semblances of virtue and religion in that young heart!" -- Marquis De Sade

"Playing on the edge is playing with self- realization." -- Joseph W. Bean

“You have to accept the fact that part of the sizzle of sex comes from the danger of sex. That you can be overpowered.” - Camille Paglia

“The difference between a truly dominant man and a controlling one is that the dominant man needs and wants consent, whereas the controlling man doesn't even understand what this word means.”- Frank Nelson

“A man must learn to give a little space
A peaceful state ‒ a submissive trait
A man must learn to gently dominate.”- Neil Peart (So many reasons to love the band Rush)

“I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters all the same. ”- Oscar Wilde

"Men if you're gonna talk dirty to your woman...
you got to talk with authority.
You can get a woman to do
any nasty little thing you want.
You say that shit like a man,
make a little eye contact...
put a little bass in your voice,
she will do that shit.
She wants to do that shit.
She's dying to do that shit.
Your woman is nastier
than you ever imagined." -- Chris Rock

"If it is the dirty element that gives pleasure to the act of lust, then the dirtier it is, the more pleasurable it is bound to be." -- Marquis de Sade

"Love well, whip well." - Benjamin Franklin

"The great object of life is sensation, to feel that we exist, even though in pain."- Byron

“Purity is the ability to contemplate defilement.”
- Simone Weil

"Most welcome, bondage, for thou art a way, I think, to liberty." - Shakespeare

Now, personally, I don't much get into this dominant/submissive deal. Honestly, I'd rather just have an equal relationship, where some days neither of us is stronger, and other days we can feel free to be weaker or stronger, and other days our partner can feel free to be the same. Personally, I'd be more than a little concerned if anyone were consistantly one or the other, because to me that would indicate a part of their life they have yet to embrace, a fear or issue yet unfaced. No offense intended to anyone. That's just my perspective.

However, I loved the Frank Nelson quote so much I just had to reaffirm it.

It however was Marquis de Sade that best explains my point of view, with my software engineer emphasis added. "IF it is the dirty element that gives pleasure to the act of lust, THEN the dirtier it is, the more pleasurable it is bound to be." In my case, the dirty element is if anything, a detractor from the experience. I prefer my sex to be an act of love and kindness. I can't help it. It's just the way I've learned to cope with the issues I've had to face. And I'm sure that in that respect, likewise there is a part of my life that I have yet to embrace. None of us are perfect.
