Great Fucking Day

What a great day. Had a date with 3 of my good friends to go play Frisbee Golf at Lake Casitas, about 30 miles south and inland from Santa Barbara. We knew that the temp was gonna be hot, day before was 103. Left early and got there about 8:30.

What a course, first hole is about 200 feet across an inlet of the lake from about a 100' foot hill. 3 of us get across the divide, the other, if he wants his frisbee back, needs to go swimming. Off he goes... he retrieves by taking off his clothes and wading in up to his neck and after, we play on. The car is parked conviently at the intersection of holes 9 and 18. At the end of 9 holes we stop for liquids and dip our shirts in the ice chest and the put them back on. The next 9 holes are the same as the first. Through forest, across meadows and around the water.

We play 18 holes on this course. We are hot, tired, thirsty and sweaty. It just so happens that I prepared a little picnic lunch of miscellaneous dishes. We quench are thirst and satiate are hunger and then off for another round.

Play the first 9 holes, again which ends up close to the car. It is hot, it is humid and it's time to quit. Time to go home... or... someone has a suggestion... a little water hole not too far away.

I'm driving along, following directions and we are simply no longer in civilization. The last turn is onto a road that is about a foot wider than the convertible in which we are driving. This road, about 2 miles down ends at an expanse of water held back by a dam. We are in the middle of mountain ranges that surround us. In front of us is a small lake. 1000's of acres of land and not a person or dwelling in sight. Paradise.

In short order we all strip down to underwear and dive in from the rocks above. Swim around and then swim to the edge of the dam and climb up to the top. On the other side is a 200' drop with water from the resevoir letting water go to the river below. If you have ever been on the top of a precipite that is 4' wide with that height, you definately accept the rules of cautiousness. We all laid at the edge in our underwear, looking down at the valley below. What a sight!

Dive back in to the lake and swim back. Wring out our underwear and put our clothes on. What a day.

Awesome! I have not been out to play disc golf yet this year. (I lost a disc in the creek last year. Damn thing didn't float, and the current dragged it away.) Summer's moving quickly, so I better get to it.

Sounds like a great day.

I needed the underwear as protection. With 4 guys in a swimming hole we wanted to insure we were not having a gay moment. lol

lol - i also went HUH at the underwear - but never mind

sounds like a real treat of a day - wonderful when things just slide one to the next - the whole more than the sum of the parts

and showing my ignorance - wtf is frisbee golf?????

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

rm_gerson42 replies on 7/24/2006 4:51 pm:
Frisbee golf is like regular golf except there are baskets that collect the frisbee thrown at it. So you normally have a distance throw, an approach throw and then try to get it in the basket. Basically just another excuse for men to go out and play. What's up with the underwear thing. Can't I just be shy around other guys? geesh.

See answer to Wickedeasy on explanation of golf. You may not play with the promise of swimming in your underwear... you must swim nude... then you can play.

There is a romantic notion that society is evil, and that the individual, once freed from society, is naturally good. This belief led to an overthrow of wisdom and its replacement with philosophies of will, in which moderation and consideration for others were socially implanted restraints that kept an individual from living authentically. Society is undoubtedly a tool of oppression, but the revolutions that destroyed the old societies often set up new ones that were even more oppressive. This is because we are social animals, and the individual has no possibility of either identity or survival outside of society. Thus each individual ought to strive to create a peaceful, stable, orderly, and just society, since within such a society individual happiness is most easily attained.

That sounds like a fun-filled day. Why do we, as adults, not let ourselves have more fun? Is it written somewhere that once you attain a certain age, you can no longer have fun? I'm with the other gals. Why bother with the underwear. I bet you stripped down when you were a kid and didn't worry about what other people might think.!!!!! I can just see you all in wet, soggy, baggy underwear. What a sight!
