Gerson's Day

First off. drove from SB to Santa Ynez this morning to pick up a cat. My second youngest daughters cat who has yet to make it to Texas. Been at the boarding kennel for over a week, much to my surprise. My ex just informed me her time was up there and she had to be picked up.

Originally, they were going to put her in cargo to get her there (by the way... her is Snowball... a purbred completely white Persian) but the temps are too hot to do so.
So they call me. I don't have a problem with that. Problem for me is that you get a $500 dollar cat, you board her for a week and a half at a cost of $250 and now I am to put her on my lap on a flight from CA to TX at a cost of $400. I really think I need to look into insuring this animal.

Second. Went back to the gym today to restart workout regimine. Prior to broken ribs and lung collapse I would normally go about 5 of 7 days. Normal day was run 3-5 miles, weight lifting, yoga and steam room. Well the injury was friggin about 2 months ago now but I didn't get medical release until 1.5 months and then had to concentrate on the family's move. End result is I gain 10 pounds and lost my cut. Sort of disapointing when you work hard at something. Hardest part is getting back to the gym and getting the cycle going again.

Ger, I began going to the gym and I loved it. Then my ex decided he couldn't afford it. So now I'm on my own. I'm going to try walking and yoga and see where it gets me. I was very disappointed, because I found it to be enjoyable and even fun, even though it was a hard workout. Good luck in your efforts.

The hard part for me was I had gotten physically to about where I wanted to be and then had to backtrack some. Good luck to you also.

Lost your cut? fffft...no big deal. Just don't tell us that your ass is photoshopped. It would be like finding out the truth about the Easter Bunny and that bunch.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

Not that I don't value your opinion, but perhaps I should wait and get this from a female perspective.

You lost your cut? Hmm..not from what I see. But, that is the rear view.

Perhaps the daughter could help with the expenses of said cat?

Oh, that pic. It's not me. lol - Somehow I think 8 year old daughter won't be paying expenses. Besides, gives me another excuse to be out there with them.

First off, you're little girl probably loves that cat...and I believe you would hitch-hike to Kamchatka to get it to her, if that's what you had to do...kudos to you for that.

I know what you mean about losing your cut...I used to have a six pack, now I have a 2-4...

rm_gerson42 replies on 7/27/2006 3:21 pm:
Your right about getting the cat to her. Any excuse to get out there in fact.
I don't exactly have to start over... but a little work to do.

Sheesh..I'm glad I got my cat at the shelter for $5.00, lol. I love my Stevie.

Oh I think your cut will come back soon. Yes, it can be depressing with exercise...you work so hard to get results but they can go away if you don't keep it up...really sucks.
I don't think you have much to worry about....I've never seen so many comments about your ass both on here and other Blogs.

I still have my CUT but its buried under several layers of fat. (Damn Sonic © Ham and Cheese Toasters.

As for the expensive pussy. Did you ever think about shaving it bald and shipping it in dry ice? surely that wouldnt be to hot then. (ok ok ok I am kidding about the dry ice part.)

Dear ger,

bards idea has merit. In fact, I think all cats should be shaved and packed in dry-ice. Especially TOM cats. I'm sure all my friends of the rodent persuasion will concur.

OMG, the comments on this are too funny.

I hear you on the cat. I like cats, but I prefer the short-hair variety myself. But if it were my little girl's cat, I'd do a lot of stuff to get it back to her, too.

And I totally hear you on the return to exercise front. I was just getting into a decent shape for mountain biking (might even have been able to finish a loop on my fave trail!) when I had my accident. My ribs are a lot better, too, although it still hurts to sneeze or cough.

The big thing for me has been in lung capacity. I have started back on the mountain bike (on flat trails for a while yet), but I know my lungs still have some crud in them. It's going to take a while to get them back to 100%.

Enjoy the workouts. I know I'm digging the endorphin rush again!

Yeah, seems that I'm able to handle it again. Did 3 miles today. Not as fast as previously and a solid weight workout. Flying the cat out on the 18th, can't wait to see her.

I injured my ankle in late April and haven't run since then. I haven't gained since then, but I had been in the losing zone. I was on a med last year that caused a drastic weight gain and I have a good 10-15 pounds to drop before I can the muscle again.

Hmmmm.... maybe I'll start running again tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. You reminded me that I had a goal! Anyone in Chicagoland want to join me?

That's the hard part. Getting back in the groove. Makes me feel so much better... but you gotta get a little time under the belt to make it happen regularly.

gerson,

Getting cut is just a ratio of calories to exercise, depending on your genetics it's not all that hard to get if you are willing to pay the price.

If I were you I'd be more concerned with repercussions from broken ribs and the collapsed lung.

I've never had any major injury, but I can't imagine it's all that inviting of an uphill climb to get back in shape.

Above all else, remember that condition is gained through phases, often baby steps.

Try not to let your ego override your common sense.

rm_gerson42 replies on 8/1/2006 1:00 am:
Completely understood DIV. I had worked really hard to get where I was. It was for me, no one else. Then the rib thing and was forced to do nothing for a couple of months. It's not so much getting in shape, I just sensationalize it for the blogs, it is the feeling I get from the activity that rev's me up. I do tend to ramp up more quickly than advisable. Thanks for the comment.
