Everything happens for a reason

I posted a little snippet for sexydisaster30 this morning on her post [post 352272] and would like to expand on the thought.

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there... to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but when you hook eyes with them, you know that every moment that you are with them, they will affect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, will power or heart.

I believe everything happens for a reason! Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from.... In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally not only because they love you, but also because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things.

Make everyday count! Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people who you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, even if it doesn't seem right because you are too young, or too old, or too far, just follow your heart. Surround yourself with those who make you smile, laugh, and make you happy.

Break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Create your own life then let go and live it!

Ger, great post!! Really beautiful. I really do believe things happen for a reason. It's the figuring it out that's the hard part

Like most people I get a bajillion email forwards on a variety of subjects. Most are Click Deletes, but every now and then I find a keeper. What you've written here reminds me of one of those (only your personal thoughts are better). I don't remember it exactly, but the premise was: Everyone who comes into your life is there for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When I first read it, I thought "oh, interesting" and that was about it. But then I found myself really thinking about it, looking at the people in my life, and which category they fit into. But it was a good categorization - sort of lent validity to EVERYONE being there.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble. Good post.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

P.S. What time was that again I was meeting you and Loyal for a drink? Though personally, it's already too hot here for me to drink much of anything other than water (105 today, ouch).

P.P.S. I commented on an "older" post of yours also, have not been online much lately, so I was trying to catch up.

GOTD sent me over here...and I'm glad I followed her advice.

Call it fate, but I don't believe that everything happens at random...each action causes several actions...that can't be chance.

Excellent post...my compliments...

I agree big time with action meets reaction. The mirror normally reflects what is presented and assorted similar thinking.

I believe! The email 1hotwahine referred to is one of the best I've ever received. I have ALWAYS said that I believe people cross our paths for a reason. That email just put it into words better than I could, and this post ABSOLUTELY says what I feel! Thank you!

I agree too. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it; it doesn't feel like the timing was right when it really was; plenty of times we misinterpret the reason at the time but it was what we needed then...

might take you another 20 years to figure out that it did and does make sense in retrospect once you look behind you and see the tapestry woven...

of course it helps to see the cup half full, always, sometimes you need time to give you that perspective...YEAH, that's it...perspective; ahhhh

so maybe it's more the perspective than the timing (funny how things come together in my head when I type...to me, at any rate)

I think timing factors in, but I also believe in karma.

For every action there is a subsequent reaction and the resulting consequences.

Some people justify it as "timing" because it serves their purposes.

Some people only see what they want to see.

Excellent point, in fact I believe that there are many factors involved.
Sometimes it is simple to focus in on one thing, yet rarely are things so easy.
