Poem for Lena

the sensation of the first embrace
the naked contact of souls
lasts only for a moment

fragment: like the moment a leaf first
drifts from the branch
then, to be blown every which way
by the wind
clothed by the air

then everything returns
like the waves coming into shore
whom we are in
our other lives
the colours we've absorbed
pushing us this way and that
clothed by the murky waters

just as we are about to collide
strange feeling fills the air
seize the moment, he tells me
In this world of ambigulty,
This type of certainty comes only once
For as long as it last....
For as much as i wanted it.....
For as long as we hold on to one another...

(For Ray)

The poem is a little myth of man's capacity of making life meaningful. And in the end, the poem is not a thing we see-it is, rather, a light by which we may see-and what we see is life.
