80 years of marriage

I saw the following in the paper this morning:

London ‒ Percy Arrowsmith, who with his wife set the record two weeks ago for the world’s longest marriage, died Wednesday, his wife of 80 years by his side. He was 105. … The Arrowsmiths claimed the key to their long marriage was not to go to sleep on an argument.

I think that being married for 80 years is incredible. I am committed to my pledge of “for better or worse”. Seeing things like this is inspirational, don’t you think? I would try their advise about not going to sleep on an argument but the sleep deprivation might get to me after a few days, ha ha.

Wonder what their sex life was like? Reminds me of the famous remark attributed to Oliver W. Homes, Supreme Court justice, who supposedly said when 90 and still working on the Supreme Court on seeing an attractive young female clerk, "Oh to be 80 again!"
