I Just Have to Laugh

The day started out pretty much like any other. To me it was just another day, although I was taking another step into my fourth decade of existence.
I took the day off work so that I could take my daughter to the dentist. She has braces and needed to have a tooth pulled so the secondary tooth below could come down.
The dentist trip was uneventful in itself, and we were given instructions on when we could remove the gauze packing and when she could eat.
About 15 minutes into the car ride home she mumbled (with packed mouth) “I don’t feel good”, followed by and eruption of pancakes, blood and packing material. All over herself and the front seat of the car. I pulled off the next exit and she cleaned herself and I cleaned the car as best we could. The rest of the trip was fine, probably a reaction to the Novocain and the blood she swallowed.
Later at home, she informed me that there was a problem in the bathroom. It seems that she managed to clog up the toilet. Too much toilet paper and monster turds I reckon. So I pulled out the plunger and went to work. Gotta tell you, not pleasant, given the bowl’s contents. But I got that emergency taken care of.
Still later, I walked into my bathroom to find that the dog had gotten into the waste basket and had a snack. (Wife’s time of the month) and spread TP and “other stuff” all over the bathroom and my bedroom. Clean up time again.
So later my in-laws took me and the family out for dinner and we had ice cream and cake at their house.
Eventually nature called and after I took care of business, the toilet wouldn’t flush. So I busted out the plunger again. While I was working on that, my son called me to inform me that while he was taking his shower, the water didn’t go down the drain and overflowed onto the floor. So we took care of the water on the floor and began to plunge the shower drain. While plunging that, water from the toilet began to back up into the shower. (Trust me, you don’t want to know)
This got me thinking, so I went into the basement to see of the drain was clogged down there too. I was greeted by an inch of standing water around the sump pump out.
Apparently, my daughter’s seismic BM had popped the breaker for the pump, and the water was not going out to the septic.
So again, fixed that, shop vac’ed up the water and put the kids to bed.
I was ready for bed myself, so I changed and on the way to bed, steeped into something wet and found out that the dog had thrown up in my bedroom.

A day just like any other.

Ok, you've definitely made me feel better - and here I was just feeling a little down about nothing at all! Happy Birthday!

It wasn't that bad in hindsight. It's just that the timing sucked.
