A Dragon Story

Once upon a time there was a young bohemian dragon that happens to share my name. That is a picture of him over there. I know he doesn’t look like a dragon, but not all dragons look like dragons. But don’t worry; he is a very nice, loveable dragon. When he was young he would spend his time dancing and generally having fun. One day he met a lady dragon who, as lady dragons sometimes do, broke his heart. He decided to immerse himself in having fun and went out dancing. While he was dancing another young lady dragon danced up to him and told him he was a very good dancer and good looking to boot. He thanked her and went on dancing. You see, he didn’t want anything to do with more young lady dragons at that time. But she was persistent and danced up to him again and asked if he wanted to sit a while. He sat with her, but explained that he was not interested in having a companion. It wasn’t that she was not attractive or witty, because she was. They decided that if they could not be lovers, they would be friends. They became friends but he kept telling her that that was all he wanted. As friends sometimes do, they did become lovers. They wound up moving in together and one day, she told him that he was going to be a dad dragon.
Cool, he thought. She said “you know, we should get married” So they did.
But he was still her friend; he really wasn’t in love with her. (At least not that much). But they were best friends and they had a pretty good marriage. He got a good “responsible” job and left his bohemian ways behind. He was a faithful husband dragon and a good dad.
As time went by, his lady dragon began to not care about herself or our hero much anymore. She kinda stopped being his friend and wasn’t much of a lover anymore.
So, as dragon marriages sometimes do, it ended in divorce.
So our young dragon went back to dancing and having fun. But he still had his good corporate job and missed his bohemian ways. One day another lady dragon walked up to him and said “You’re cute” and walked away. Our hero immediately fell in love. He didn’t want to, he enjoyed being a single dragon, but he had no choice-he was in love. He chased this lady dragon for a long time and eventually his love was returned. He got married again.
This time it was different, she was a bohemian dragon too and understood him, and he was really in love. One day he told her about a dream of his, but it involved leaving his good corporate job. She said “Cool- follow your dream, I’ll help”
So he started on his dream. It took a lot of school and leaving a good job, but he did it.
There were problems though, she was more bohemian than he was and was not a faithful dragon wife. He found out about it, but he forgave her (almost) because he was living his dream thanks to her. She had a really good job and was able to keep the dragon family going. He took care of the kids because his schedule was more flexible and was a good dragon dad.
Our hero’s wife dragon was unhappy because she didn’t like her job much and told our hero that maybe he should get a nice corporate job again. He really didn’t want to because he was happy for the first time in years, so he tried to think of compromises. But she didn’t want to hear any of that.
So one day (yesterday to be specific) she came home from work and said “I quit my job today, I guess you have no choice but to get a new job. I’m sick of being the breadwinner and I’m giving the job back to you”
So our dragon hero is now in a quandary. He doesn’t want to give up his dream, but he has been given no choice. Well actually, he does have a choice, give up his dream or give up his lady dragon (who he kinda has fallen out of love with anyway). He knows that he can take care of himself (and his kids) and keep his dream, but he can’t keep her too and he’s not sure he would want to.
Unfortunately I don’t know the end of the story yet, but as time goes by, I’m sure that more will be written.

I think our dragon has a lot of thinking to do....and should start with what he wants for himself...

Hoping the dragon keeps the fire alive in his belly and does what makes him happy. Life is too short to be sad.

Wishing you the best...

I won't be sad, I am way too alive to waste time being sad. It's just hard knowing with path will be the happier one in the long run.

Thanks for the kisses. I do have a lot of thinking to do. And some actions that I feel that I don't want to do, but really have no choice.

Wow! That's a sad story! I can imagine what you're going through! Sounds like she has changed quite a bit! I wish I could conjure up some kind of magic spell that would make everything perfect for you, but I am no magician! I hope you figure everything out soon, and I wish you the best of luck!

Like yummmy669, I also extend the offer to listen...

Dragons sometimes need to steep their emotions before flying through the end of the story.

I feel for you. I have been in the similar situation of not knowing what to do next or where to go. The best advice I can give you is: Do what feels right to you and what is going to make you the happiest. Never give up your hopes and dreams for another and whatever you decide do it with grace and style. Life's too short to waste a single moment unhappy. I wish you all the best.

I wish either choice felt right, but neither one is very pleasant. Thanks for your well wishes.
