later this evening...

I'm feeling a bit more melancholy than earlier.

Looking out my window at the cherry tree losing its fruit gives me the warning I need to know that winter is around the corner. I'm hoping for the first snow this week. Snow gives me hope for the seasons.

I've been writing songs a lot lately. I've had many good ideas, especially concerning nature, the crazed frenzy of the holiday shopping season, and the joy I take in my work.

Maybe this is really what a blog should be.

You know, I HATE the word BLOG. It sounds like the name of some Neanderthal, or a syllable emanating from a vomiting individual with the much-feared avian flu. I suggest Net Journal, or at least something that sounds less like the wretching of a salmonella victim.

I'm finally getting the hang of this blog thing.

I was always a fan of those blank books one can pick up at Barnes and Noble. I don't even like lines - completely blank is the way to go. I like the freedom of being able to write off-the-cuff poems, draw pictures, and write music in them. My actual "journal" is more of a multimedia experience... the old fashioned way.

And it contains many of the things I wouldn't even put here... things I hold so private and dear that I'd never let my best friend or mother read.
