Resolutions

It's been almost 2 weeks into the new year, and I'm still hanging on to all of my resolutions...absolutly amazing (thank you, thank you...[insert crowd applause here]). Since Thanksgiving and a marginally severe ankle injury, I've imbibed quite a bit more, and have run alot less, than my norm. So, I've gained about 10 lbs and have lost my (insert lack of modesty quotient here) flat stomach. Since the new year my #1 resolution (as is the case with most Americans) is to get back in shape; specifically to get my ankle back to nearly full strength (you always lose a little with an injury) and get my stomach back to potentially being called up to either: 1)wash your clothes by hand or 2)play some scratch rhythm in a raggle-taggle old southern acoustic hoe-down (Though being a Yankee by birth, I'm not too sure how those kind southern folks would take to me in their band ; and finally to run the NY marathon if I ever get in. [So far I've dropped 4 lbs of the holiday "fluff" off me going from 169 to 165 (although that first number was a good one)]. I've entered the 8-week body challenge on Discovery to help push me to get my old self back... without a little competition/motivation, I doubt I'd try as hard...plus I have a $25 wager with some friends too- based on the "Biggest Loser" tv show- though i don't think i've got too much to go (but those people were just absolutely amazing and inspiring--didn't even look like the same people that started the show!) This weekend I'll be in Vail skiing for the first time since my injury so i think blues just might be my limit. We'll see how it feels. Wish me luck. Resolution #2 is to help more people. I feel like the more I give of my self and my time to others, the better things are for all of us. So far it's been great. Specifically working at the Marion House downtown (it's a soup kitchen for those not from the Springs), and working with big brothers and big sisters- and to be completely hypocritical, helping at my church (I know, how can I be on this site, and go to church....well, confession does wonders for the soul - hopefully you Catholics know what I mean). My last resolution this year is two-fold... I resolve to have more fun and be less stressed about life in general. Hopefully these two will blend as nicely as chocolate and peanut butter, and keep me laughing, smiling, singing, playing more often. This blog may be a way of reducing some stress (I feel better already), as well as a way to have, and/or find, some more fun that is waiting in the wings (or behind your computer) as I can ponder, meander, reflect, tell stories (where the 10% true rule is always in effect), share a poem or song, or just follow a muse. I'd love if you'd come along...
