The reason we use pseudonyms

After writing my previous post I thought I'd hit google. I entered by handle "deaminveni" and got "about 27" hits, mainly my blog (no surprise there).

Then I entered my real name "xxxx xxx" (Yeah, like I was gonna post that!), I put it in "" so only whole name matches came up, "about 555" hits. I checked a random sample of these hits from the start and end of the list. The vast majority were really me!

So, that's why I don't always use my real name for my "private" affairs

Of course, "private" is something of a movable feast.

Now, my real name hits were mainly related to my professional career, which should be no surprise. I've been on the Internet for, ooh just over 20 years. While most of my activity has gone unattributed I have written articles, posted, etc. under my real name. So 555 hits isn't too bad. (I did find a namesake, which surprised my because I have a very uncommon name. Even more weird, he was working not far from me!)

Of course you could entertain yourself by searching for your own name on Google. Or better yet, try "Google Whacking".

"Google Whacking" for beginners
Okay, "google whacking" is very simple. You simply go to http://www.google.com and enter two words. They have to be real words, but they can be proper nouns. Any two words you can dream up.

The objective of the game is to get Google to return EXACTLY one hit. No more, no less.

It has to be perfect single hit, not one with more possibilities offered.

That's it. Believe me you can waste hours at this game. It becomes increasing frustrating, especially when you get like 10 hits - ooh, soo close.

If you're not careful you end up spending almost as much time doing this as posting on an AdultFriendFinder blog.

By the way, be careful were you boast about you "Whack", not only may it be misinterpreted but if Google sees it your "Whack" will be no more .

hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm, not sure I should post this but heck Im going to, after all you can always delete it.

You state that your name is uncommon and if you google you only get 555 hits.

Now the not so uncommon other name you gave me has 1,180,000 hits world wide and 129,000 hits for UK only, so I take that you have yet another name for private affairs. btw my full name has 189 world wide hits.

Ok so Im being a bitch posting this here, but I would like to see your answer for the whole of blogland to view.

Nope, my uncommon name is exactly that, uncommon. As I said, 555 hits worldwide, most of which are ME (I have been at this Internet game a while - LO. As for the other name, I really can't comment, as I said, I picked it out of the air. Had I chosen something like Tom Cruise I suspect I would have got many more that 1.1 million hits Wouldn't have made the name any more my own,but it would have been ananymous for my purposes

As for deleting your comment, why would I? I welcome your comments MK (and you're not being a bitch at all). I have give a full and honest account of what happened, whether people believe it or not is for them, not me. My concience is clear.
