My mother has had a penpal for many years (since she was a young girl). Her penpal lives in Canada. They met face to face a few years ago and have met a couple of times since.
Why am I telling you this? Well, blogs are pretty much broadcast letters (or diaries, or therapy - depending upon your style). We establish links using these media and these links may develop into a penpal style relationship (or possibly more). I'm certainly amazed at how quickly I have established links. After only, what a month? I am already establishing friendships through blogging and e-mails on AdultFriendFinder.
Some blogs I read avidly but have yet to "hook up" with their authors. I will, in time. Others I have begun to forge friendships with already. It's nice that the media of blog/email allows us to make these links but not feel pressured into immediate, or even direct responses.
Sometimes I may go several days without access to blogging, sometimes I may respond through a comment left on a friends blog, other times I may respond through my blog, it all depends upon the nature of the message I want to send and whether I have anything to say.
