Who'll Stop The Rain?
Who'll Stop The Rain?
After a couple of months back in Wisconsin, I am heading back down to New Orleans next week. This time to make some money -- got a decent consulting gig for a couple of days. Of course will volunteer some time too. I have been watching the news about the area and still such a mess. There is simply no black or white -- just a big grey -- both in physically and metophorically.
No one wants to make a decision, people are scamming making it worse for those in need. Communication is sketchy, transportation not reliable and safety is becoming an issue again.
After this visit I will be taking a long hard look at life it's ownself, measure the opportunities and make the big decision on quiting my job and going for it down there! With that said i have to question why would I want to deal with the Headaches of New Orleans -- and still need to consider my kids.
Multiply everything by the hurricane seasonright around the corner. Wholl' stop the rain.

Condor it is a place that needs a lot of help and you sound like a shaker and doer. Go down and shake them up out of their stupor. Someone needs to kick the Gov in the ass and fix the loop holes. Maybe you are that man and it is your calling. Do take your kids into consideration. A DAd and the example he sets is very important. My friend gets her daughter fewer times a year but longer times when they come. It could be a great way to inspire them to help others, natural history and so on. |
A couple of us run a dog Rescue and offered to go down and pick up some dogs and bring them some stuff they needed. The ASPCA said they would call us if they needed help. Never heard a word. Don't get it either as the dogs left to their own devices are now having pups. Where does it end. Maybe the next one will sweep out the junk with it. Clean slate.
How do you get along with your X? Would she be supportive of the idea? I know people that go over seas and help. They love it and never come back. I think a person gets really invested in the work!
Good luck on your decisions
