grammatically speaking

In my best Sister Mary Elephant voice:

ok, students... today we are going to learn about nouns, pronouns, and contractions. Five words that are often misused, (much to my chagrin). Two groups. The words in each group sound the same, but, are spelled differently. AND, mean different things...

Group 1

YOUR - pronoun - meaning: of you or yourself

YOU'RE - contraction - meaning: You are

A sentence using both: You're looking so hot in your tight black speedo.

Group 2

THERE - noun - meaning: A location other than here; that place

( THERE can also be an adverb - In or at that place, etc. )

THEIR - pronoun - meaning: Of them or themselves

THEY'RE - contraction - meaning: They are

A sentence using all three:They're on their way there, as we speak.

How about plural possessives for the next lesson? The Smiths' cat's balls....

In my defense, I've seem my spell checker miss 'They're' and change it to 'their' or whacky stuff like that.. Hey - I can't type - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Can we address is not "I seen that", but rather "I saw that"
That one drives me up a wall

"I seen it" makes the hair on the back of my neck stand straight out. Another one is "I should have went". Arrrrrrrgh.....
