DEADBEATS

Two friends decide to go out to dinner. Last minute change, and these two friends decide to meet two other friends at a well known chain resturant in Channelside, then stay and watch the fireworks.

These two friends get to said resturant. One of the friends already there is having a chocolate martini. Cool. The two each have one, (which, btw, tasted just like a Yoohoo with a kick). Then, they proceed to order an appetizer, and dinner.

Good conversation flows. The table of friends laughs and has fun. Could be the slight buzz of the chocolate martini that added to it, too...

UNTIL

The cheque arrives. Friend that invited friend to dinner looks through her wallet. Her debit card doesn't seem to be there. She tears through it again. Nope. Nada. Friend turns to other friend...

I don't have my debit card, can you take care of the bill?

No problem. The other friend pulls out HER wallet. Looks through it. Looks again. Uh oh. No credit card, no debit card. Looks through purse. Other friend grabs purse and looks through it, too.

CREDIT CARD AND DEBIT CARD ARE NOT THERE!

Talk about deadbeats. No money to pay for dinner. No money to pay for parking. No money to hit the chocolate store after dinner.

Holy crap.

Other two friends are watching this scene unravel. They are bemused. First two friends are mortified. They will probably have to stay and wash dishes, at the very least.

Other two friends offer to pay. First two friends are beyond embarrassed, but, there is no other alternative. One of the other friends gives first two friends ten bucks for parking. The other grabs the bill and pays.

Sigh.

Happy moods of the first two go down the toilet. They are humbled by the generosity of the other two friends.

Sounds like a scam, eh? First two friends each conveniently forget their money AND credit/debit cards. Yep, a free ride. Works on tv, right? Why not in real life?

But, this truly was not planned. But, what are the ODDS of this happening? Probably a gazillion to one. If you were a betting individual, you coulda cleaned up...

But, it's all true. How do I know this?

Because.....

That's so nice of you to recognize the true meaning of friendship.

Thank you Lady Bambi. Yes, I couldn't not thank them publicly. Goes to show who your true friends really are. Through thick and thin. And, even through stupidity

I am sure they did not mind.

Hey, stuff happens in life.

Oh, I know. But still. Jeez. I hate being a burden on ANYONE.

I guess stupidity counts for something, right?

As I've said, don't let this bother you. Please. It happens. Just happy I was around to help.

Let me drive. I like the view

This was my way of saying thank you, albeit in a public forum...

It is a blessing to have a generous a friend as it is a friend that allows a generosity. One comes wrapped with appreciation and the other is wrapped with joy.

Well at least be thankful for the fact that you were with others and not there alone when it happened. I've been in similar situations with others and have either helped to pay or had to accept the help of others. I'm just thankful for the friendships that I have.
