That reminds me of a joke...

I just ran across a blog that seems to tell a joke a day, and it reminded me of one of my favorites.

A mother and her son are traveling across the country. In a strange city, they exit the freeway to get gas and food, and can’t find their way back. Frustrated, they see a young boy standing in his yard who is the age of the son. “Billy,” the mother says, “ask him for directions.”

Pulling to the curb, Billy gets out and approaches the boy. “Ex-ex-excuse m-m-m-me, but, do you n-n-know where the f-f-f-f-freeway is?”

The kid just stands there, looking at him in silence.

Billy tries again. “Do you n-n-n-know wh-where the f-f-f-f-freeway is?

Again, nothing from the kid.

“Ah-ah-ah-are you d-deaf? W-w-we’re trying to f-f-find the f-f-f-freeway!”

When the kid still doesn’t respond, Billy storms off and they drive away.

From behind him, the kid hears his mother emerge from the house. “Johnny, she says in a scolding tone. “You know where the freeway is, why didn’t you tell him?”

“I d-d-didn’t want to ge-ge-get s-s-slapped for making f-f-fun of his s-s-s-s-stutter.”

When I told this joke to my boss one morning, I didn’t know that he had overcome a stuttering problem himself. Hearing someone stutter was one of the few “triggers” he had left. He couldn’t talk right the whole rest of the day. At the time, I was the new-guy, so he let it go. The rest of the staff laughed their asses off for weeks.

It's been six years and I'm still a legend for it.

HAHAHAHAHA!

Did you know that stuttering in adults has been linked to a poor equalibrium? It can be completely confromed with a little chip that you put in your ear.

Neat huh?

Maybe that will help my boss. You hold him down, I'll get the chip and a pair of pliers.
