"Heartbeats"

by s'Jon B. Piranha(c) 2004

Thump-thump...

Control. It's about control. The first most powerful ability and compunction that I have in my entire life is based on self-control. Control of my emotions, control over my feelings, control over my reactions, control over my environment, control of my body, control of my mind, control of my energies, control of my movements, control of my direction. Control.

Thump-thump...

Power. It's about power. That presence I radiate from across the room is part of it. That special-something that makes me unique, tall, imposing, and have fortitude. That set of my jaw, that knowledge of my body and my abilities. The ability to react fast and correctly, reflexively. The mind set and the remembering with my body what others only read with their eyes. The knowledge that power brings, and the power that knowledge grants. Power.

Thump-thump...

Energy. It's about energy. The subtle yet very real waves of energy that move a body with a thought. The energies that surround us. The energies that bind us. The energies that mold us and translate subconscious thoughts into deeds unaware. The energy that moves through the universe, not caring but supporting. The intelligent coursing energy that heals, soothes, nurtures, and protects. The destructive and regenerating energies of the fire of the wills that guide them, and the wills that don't. The psychokinetic shifting of energies around a person's body. Energy.

Thump-thump...

Thought. It's about thought. Creation moves slowest through thought, but it is where all creation begins. Thoughts that guide, thoughts that bend, thoughts that break, thoughts that flex, thoughts that move, thoughts that share, thoughts that heal, thoughts that destroy, thoughts that slide, thoughts that linger, thoughts that encourage, thoughts that are, thoughts that could be. Thought.

Thump-thump...

Chill. It's about chill. That sensation that causes gooseflesh to rise on my arms. The sensation that tingles in my occipital lobes and ripples through my frontal and lateral lobes. The waves of chill that course through my body: in rest, in motion, in transition. The anticipation of an event, as sure as if it already happened. The touch of a lover's fingers on my flesh. Chill.

Thump-thump...

Fluid. It's about fluid. The sound of waves crashing at a beach, the trickle of the shower water over my head, the bubbling sound of a jacuzzi, and the gurgling of a mountain stream. The movement of the trees and the swaying of the grasses in the wind. The trickle of blood flowing out of a wounded animal. The movements of graceful dancers and martial masters. The conjoining of two bodies. Fluid.

Thump-thump...

Sensation. It's about sensation. The sensation of living. The sensation of doing. The sensation of feeling. The textures of the cloth, the grit of the sand, the cold hardness of marble, the fluff of a flower, the smell of sweat, the sound of birds, the twinkling of stars, the heat of the moment, the internal flow of the body, the energy of the mind. Sensation.

Thump-thump...

Being. It's about being. The complete and utter knowledge of who you are, and where you're going. Doing not doing. Accepting not forcing. Flowing not movement. Praising not judging. Envisioning not sight. Experiencing not sound. Feeling not touch. Savoring not taste. Clear not mind. Being.
