Safe Love...Anybody?

Well I was about to write my thoughts on the concept of 'safe love', (please not to be confused with safe sex) what it is, what it entails, if it really exists, if it is desirable, how people develop it and so on but suddenly a few words came on my mind, some feelings grown strong and it seemed to me that I didn't have another choice .... but what the heck? ... to write a poem about it and let everyone reach your own conclusions.

A child wants to feel safe
in the light of a smile,
in the warmth of a caress,
and the open arms of a cuddle that embraces all that is love.
A child ignores the menace
but comprehends the risk
as every little tear breaks the weaves of air
and the sun reminds a day that nothing was all that is now.
A child moves on and forgets
the dreams that were not meant to come true,
the vision of sea that became a wreck of despair,
the sound of wind that chocked the first love affair,
and the melody that has never found the time to become a song.

Nothing to care, nothing to love
Everything escalates the nudity of truth
Nothing to win, nothing to lose,
Everything elevates the pleasure of flesh
Nothing to care, nothing to love
If only something could bridge this chasm.

A poem wants to fill the void,
to bring back the light of a smile,
to bring back the warmth of a caress,
and the open arms of a cuddle that embraces all that is love.
A poem comprehends the menace
but ignores the risk
as every little word breaks the silence of grief
and the pen reminds a day that everything was a matter of safe love.

<~~ such a losted child

I'm touched, everywhere in my being, with your words.

Your innocence draws me in
As I start to see through your eyes
All that I've seen before
Yet, not from this angle
The risk is new
I breath in your world
And I walk with you
So, that I may see
A new vision
From your eyes

Sweet: welcome in my blog. Thank you for the kind words. You also wrote a wonderful poem about the eyes of children and apparently there are parallels between our poems. It's always nice to find people who think and feel the same way. Drop by again...

MY MUSE Maggie: The only thing I have to say is that I would never write that without your contribution. Every word in it has a trace of a lost child, a trace of you...doesn't it?

A child being innocent wants to feel safe and find love what I call safe love. We are not innocent anymore nor we are children but we create and develop such poems (or other little pieces of art) to bring us back the innocence of a child and the feeling of that safe love.....
