What do you want to see in profiles?

When I first signed up here and became a member of the site, I had no idea what to put in my profile. I put in the minimum I had to and hoped for the best, as you can see, it worked. That was over 12 months ago now LOL.

But it's time to update it now and I want site members opinions as to what information you'd want to see in someone's profile.

As a standard member, I can't view most profiles anyway, unless the person has opened it to standard members (or the person is so "intriguing" that I use points to view him/her). However, I think it is usually best to just be simple and truthful. It makes things easier, should you develop a friendship with someone later.

I suppose the following would be of interest to most:

1. Why you are here
2. A few personal things about yourself
3. Interests
4. A pic (unless you prefer anonymity)
5. What you do for fun

I'm here to read blogs and talk with folks. I hope you enjoy your stay, as much as I have.

Well... can we see a picture?

I, too, am a standard member like the gentleman above so I can't read profiles anyway. A photo (hopefully of a face or part of a face) gives me a sense of a person.

I think you should keep your profile short, sweet, and state in it exactly what you are and are not looking for. A lot of guys will ignore what you write there anyway but you might filter out some bozos.

I also recommend using e-mail filters if you're getting too much junk e-mail.

I think its best to be straight to the point with what you want and what you are looking for. I think im straight to the point in my profile and i dont beat around the bush. If you cant understand it, then maybe you shouldn't be on a site like this.

I've only been online for a couple of months now, and haven't really had much success, have only met a couple of people so far and only once has it progessed to anything, but would like to meet many more in the future and see what happens.

I would also like to see pictures on profiles, but not cock shots, not until i ask to see them anyway Its good to see who you are talking to, as Choozmi said, if gives you a sense of the person. Its one of the first parts of attraction to someone on here. A picture can say so much.

Thanks for your input Doc, I'm taking everyones responses into account before I redo my profile. Anonymity...is that why you haven't got a photo up?

hi Wizardess just thought i would share the reason why i initially joined AdultFriendFinder and the reason why i stay. the following is my answer to a post by sweetsinn . I guess what you put on your profile is based on the reason why you are here and you are the only one who knows that, but it was interesting for me to come across blogs and it was an interesting post as it gives you an insight to why people are here perhaps you may want to post a similar post. i must admit i have not paid much attention to my profile since discovering the world of blogs as i have met more some really lovely people here and share emails with them . Above all be true to yourself and who you are , spend a little time to determine what you are hoping for and post your profile accordingly...peace and harmony passion

Why did you join?

Curiosity the tempting photos and the thought that cyber fantasy would be fun

Why do you stay here?

Discovery of blogs and the people that write from the heart ,I feel privileged to get a glimpse of their lives each person has their story, so many beautiful people like you shy vixen goddess of the dawn Maggie wishes who write so beautifully people like myzhunyhole who has experienced so much in her life and writes in own unique poignant way, the many people who are on their journey within, the people who leave beautiful comments, the peoples whose writings inspire me like simplysexy, the people who write poetry like texas rose ….I love the mental stimulation from reading the writings, the questions asked that forces me to take a moment and think about who I am , where I am going, how I relate to the person asking them, To me to share a moment and to connect with another without any expectation of each other is a jewel to be forever treasured.

What things have you learned about yourself while on AdultFriendFinder?

I have discovered that I am still passionate when it comes to writing prose, and am still passionate about the core values of life I have discovered that my own journey in life, the searches for answers within, finding the self which got sidetracked due to material pursuits and financial necessities and ego has been restarted.

What have you learned about others?

This answer is regarding the bloggers and the people who read them ,There are many talented people here, each on their journey, each with their unique story, there are many beautiful caring loving people united in their need to have this interaction with others

What will you take with you when you leave?

Many fond memories shared of the people who have touched my life , many lessons learned , a warmer heart and friendships gained from knowing the people in blogland. I will both take and leave the love shared with others and share it with those I continue to come across. I will take hopefully a better person ,me from having been here.

Wiz . . . In answer to your question . . . Yes, my job puts me quite a bit into the public eye here at home. I'm afraid it wouldn't be good for me if I were to be found on this site, even though I enjoy being here. I'm not really here to meet anyone for anymore than conversation anyway, so I have never posted a picture, even though I have sent one to friends on occasion after chatting for a while. Nothing very risque even then . . . I don't do those types of shots. I do have a profile that explains why I'm here . . . but that's about it.

I hope you enjoy AdultFriendFinder and find whatever it is you are looking for. Good luck with your new profile.

Have a great day.

Doc

Too much to quote it all but thanks for your response. I understand that my profile is only a part of me that's on here (others being my blog, groups, networks and others) but a lot of people don't bother with this other 'stuff', looking for my happy medium I guess

I enjoy being here too, and please don't think that I was trying to offend you with my question before. I'm sure I'll have success here, hoping you have the same.

I think that Passion has summed up the reason many of us stay here despite the frustrations, Blogging. The opportunity to learn about and from different people we would not ordinarily meet in our daily lives, to share the ups and downs, the good and the bad, to express ourselves and to have those expressions heard and acknowledged.
Yeah we join to try to hook up, well its easier for the ladies at any rate, and then when we discover blogging a new wourld unfolds before us.

I for one have been on a personal journey of rediscovery and growth, and being a part of the AdultFriendFinder Blogland community has helped.

(Him)
Hey there Wizz
Typing about life experiences, and what they've taught you can be quite a topic to put up on a profile, and will get a lot of people interested in the real you, where you've been, and also where you're heading.
We hope you truy find what you're looking for, and best of all, being happy with life and all it has to offer.
Cheers

Ta Mr SC,
