Smut Peddlers of the World: Unite and Take Over

Bloggers, do you find different types of writing takes longer than others? I’m certainly becoming aware of it in my case. For example, this post may take 10 minutes at most; a political piece of this length might take 20 minutes.

But the writing that takes the longest for me is the porn.

Yup, it’s smut. It may take me 90 minutes or more just to get 250 words done.

“And I’m always writin’ more than 250 words, baby... yeah, I don’t stop ‘till the story’s done baby, I can write alllll night long. Now come on over here baby, and sit yo’ ass down at my computer. That’s right, you type those keys for a while... that’s it, ooohh yeah. You do that well, baby! I like that... you type. Type those keys. And you type and you type and baby! Baby! Baby! Baby!.... Sorry baby, I got some toner down the front of your dress.”

Thank you, Barry White - my guest blogger! Give him a hand, people !

Anyway, yeah, smut... I find I have to think of the narrative and environment and keep it in mind and how it will affect my “character’s” actions. I have to think about what he’s doing, what she’s doing, what she’s feeling, he’s feeling, what they’re thinking. How you, dear reader, are interpreting my words.

And then I have to be very selective with the words I choose. A single misplaced word can ruin the sensuality of a kiss, a lick... an orgasm. And for fuck’s sake, I’m a guy - I don’t always know what word is sexy and what word is going to somehow trigger a painful memory for you of the summer picnic when you got caught playing doctor with your cousin’s friend in the hay loft.

So, smut-peddling reader, do you find this is the same case with you? What type of writing do you find the most difficult? Any tricks on getting over it?

Oh, I was wrong, it took me 17 minutes.

I always worry that the reader will not be able to visualize what I am writing. I want them to get turned on and feel like they are there watching the whole story unfold. I don't want to write just another smutty story that doesn't make the reader feel something.

I find smut so easy to write, I don't bother, unless I'm ghost writing for someone. It's the more personal things I have trouble writing. Such as, writing about finding some of my mother's things took me forever. It took a good hour to find the right words.

Typing is the easy bit, finding the right words is the hard part, it can take me over an hour to post a blog, even a simple one, and writing smut takes me days.
