Shopping

So I'm holiday shopping yesterday, (yeah, holiday shopping, so suck it Bill O'Reilly!) and I made pretty good progress. I only have a couple more things to buy yet. I think if there was such a thing as competitive shopping, and time was a factor, men would win. We know what we're going to buy, and we buy it. My record is several years old, but I once did all my holiday shopping in < 20 minutes.

I got a bunch of Hot Wheels for stocking stuffers for the nefs and any other kids I run into. I've always loved Hot Wheels - they're such a deal, US$0.99 a piece, and they're nearly indestructible. They aren't Corgi cars, but kids don't know the difference.

I got one problem with them though.

Being a car guy, I usually end up buying a couple for myself, and yesterday was no exception. Bought a 1970 Plymouth Superbird in an authentic avacado green; I'm not a fan of most muscle cars, but those Superbirds sure make me smile. Got a Talbot Lago too, one of my favorite pre-war automobiles.

Problem with the Talbot is a problem many Hot Wheels have - ridiculous, historically incorrect paint. I don't even know what color it is; it's a dark shade of sparkly gay green. Talbot never did a car in "gay".

I also saw a Ferrari P4 in black, which would be OK even though all P4s were red, but they put flames on the paint as well; dear God, flame decals on a P4 - ZZ Top-style!

That may be OK for the Hanson brothers, it may even be cool for Texans, but I'd rather Hot Wheels save the creativity for their video games.

Apropos of nothing, I'm being forced to listen to this Apprentice nonsense, and I really wish I could say I hate Donald Trump, but right now he pales in comparison to those contestants.

[blog saintlianna] - Hmmm... given the chance, I'd do a lick better than suck your ass @!@

[blog FreeLove999] - yeah, don't they have Hot Wheels in SA? If not, I could send you a dozen or so for the village kids if you think they'd like them.

TexasMar - Well, it just looked like a Mexican hot rod. And what are you doing posting in the middle of the day?

dunno if we have them -- haven't exactly checked out the brandnames on dinky cars, LOL! but, the kids don't live in a village, they live in a township --- a township with either shacks or tiny 3mx3m little box houses with leaky roofs, no ceilings, no plaster and no bath or shower ... however, lol! if u wanna send gifts, i will distribute them!

Heh. That's what I have to get my nephew. To annoy my sister, as he opens them and says, "He already has so many of those." My sister took my mother's old collection of Hot Wheels from the 60s and 70s when my parents died and we were cleaning out the house.

They still make them out of metal, right?
