Saturday afternoon with Sylvia Browne

One of my birthday presents to myself was purchasing a ticket to see Sylvia Browne in person. In April I saw that the closest she was coming to me was Kansas City. For those of you who don't know who this woman is, check her out on her website. She a renowned psychic, teacher, and researcher. She has authored I think more than 50 books, for which most have been on the Best Seller's List. She is a frequent guest on Larry King Live and is on the Montel show most Wednesdays. I have read about 15 of her books and just can't get enough. She is very frank and will tell you like it is. She is all about being good to yourself and others. I especially like her philosophy of, "do good, love God, go home and shut up!" She is very positive and upbeat.

So considering that my $50 ticket only got me to a specific seating area and not I reserved seat, I had planned on leaving quite early to get a good spot. The doors opened at 11am, so I had planned on leaving by 7am. I think the actual drive time to downtown KC was about 3 1/2 hours. But of course, 6am come and went. The night before I was getting all my stuff ready and went to look for my ticket. I had had the ticket in my datebook for three months. BUT for some reason I could not find it! I spent the next 2 hours ripping my room apart looking for the ticket. I won't even go into the emotions I was feeling...after it was all said and done, I found the ticket under my bed at 3am. So I gave a big sigh..took a pain pill and went to sleep. Therefore....6am was just not doable...but I did get on the road at 9am.

Funny story about the trip there..about an hour out of Omaha...saw an old friend driving the same way to take her kids to Worlds of Fun..so of course we talked on the cell phone and had some fun on the road. The drive there was ok..however I think I am going to make it my mission to educated drivers out there that the RIGHT lane is for cruising and the LEFT lane is for passing! Anyways...

Found the convention center with no problem. Parking was ok at $6. Not Bad. This is where is gets tricky. I didn't mind going to this event by myself, infact enjoyed the drive there and home alone in my car. But now I am stuck with getting a seat and then having to have someone save my seat if I needed to get up. Luckily a nice gal with her mom and dad, sitting above me, were nice enough to do just that.

The opening act, if you will, was the psychic medium, John Holland. I had heard only a little about him. He started off talking about his childhood and his 'gift'. He was really good. After discussing his life, he did some readings. He works like John Edwards...he will pick up on something and go towards a certain area of the audience. He spoke to a mom about her son who died recently in a car accident. It was really touching. I am not saying that I believe everthing..but it made her feel good and gave her some comfort..I believe he has a special on the history channel called "Psychic History" sometime here in August. NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT!!!

It was so awesome to be sitting like 50 feet from Sylvia Browne. She is just so cool! I loved that she totally bashed BUSH! I just can't explain it..you have to read her work, see her work to understand....I would have to say I cried, I laughed all at the same time! It was totally worth the $50! I would love to see her again. In fact she does cruises with other authors...if you want to know more about that check out HayHouse Publishing on the internet.

The trip home was nice....alot less traffic coming home then coming...Made a pit stop at the Anchor Inn on the way home. On the Fritz was playing. They are an awesome band..I think I will have to check out when/where they are playing next! There were several new people who made it out to the Anchor for the Meet n Greet! Our group is getting bigger and bigger...The only bad part was just sitting and sweating!! After a few hours of that..came home..took a long hot shower and fell asleep...I was even to tired to take care of other needs....can you believe it?

Sammi, you know how jealous I am, next time let me know! I agree On the Fritz are a good band, but I kind of have to say that, I guess.

Sammi, you lost your ticket close to where you lost your remote. Does that mean that you spend to much time doing other things in your bed? Just kidding...he he he.
I love to watch Sylvia when she is on Montel when I get a chance to. Let me know the next time that you go. Maybe we could make a girls only trip! Sounds like alot of fun to me. I think that the money would be worth it.

I am writing to sincerely apoligize for my blithe comments about Sylvia. She is obviously one of your favorite persons, and I was insensitive to your feelings, by making jokes about her. I didn't realize that my teasing would hurt you, and for that, I am truly sorry. I am glad that you enjoyed yourself - that is obvious if you cried and laughed all in the same session. I love it when that happens. So, miss Sammi, excuse my mouth, please.
