The truth is

Well, I clearly forgot I’ve got an account here. But what the heck. All I need is one avenue to rid my head of some thoughts.

Anyhow, I’m currently in Philadelphia. Did a one-month stint as an intern in a great finance company, so now it’s back to school at Penn. Life here is totally different from my life in Singapore & Australia. For one, the winter here is definitely much much colder than down under (and sadly, more depressing). The fabulously insane & incessant shopping in Philly seems to be the only thing that's keeping me from breaking down these days. Queerly, I’m actually craving for the bright , burning sunshine in Singapore and absolutely dreading my return to winter (again!) in Australia somewhere in June.

The company here is insanely fantastic though, which makes going back to Australia even more devastating. There’s a hot Caucasian schoolmate I met at Penn who’s absolutely crazy about Asian girls. According to him, Asian girls are ‘exotic’, which I find very orientalist. Not as if Asian girls have an extra bellybutton or something. He’s been inviting me out for drinks lately, which I’ve politely declined, given the fact that he already has a girlfriend who happens to be Asian (no surprise there). Well, he probably chatted me up because I’m Asian and my guess is he just wants a fling.

The Boy and I are no longer an item. It’s been over for a couple of months now, and I’m doing fine, strangely. I guess the failed relationships I’ve had in the past made me stronger over the years. Or maybe the break-up just becomes a little easier when the other person is halfway across the globe. Either way, I haven’t spoken to him since, he hasn’t called too, still waiting for the awkwardness to die off I suppose. Anyhow, I’ve just returned to the dating scene lately, seeing someone who’s fabulous. Not looking for anything permanent though, since I’ll be off in a few of months’ time. Well, we’ll see…

It's certainly not my habit. But I'll try my darndest. Asians ain't exactly rare commodities in Philly nowadays, baby.
