Just Lonely

I've been messaging with a divorced woman for about a week. My previous post, about lasting relationships, was written as I waited (the eternity of a single day) to hear the decision of her struggling conscience about connecting with a married man. She was clear from message one, that, while she was very interested, she needed time to take her values into account.

From message one, I knew I was dealing with an honest and caring woman who would be more likely to decline my romantic overtures. In the course of our exchanges, my greatest challenge was to balance my desire with my own sense of integrity. On several occasions, while declaring my intentions, I also reminded her how pointless it would be to try to convince her that she should see me, connect with me - in such matters of the heart, the profits of intellectual argument and negotiation, are hollow indeed.

A true friend would never require, or even ask her/his friend to betray his/her values.

Sad and lonely but feeling OK about who I am.

Be well

It seems that you are a true friend. I admire your integrity.
