Week 1-Jobless

Well it has been one week today without a job and I have sent my resume to numerous places and haven't received any calls However, with the help of some great friends on here, I really believe I am going to nail something good.

I would list those who are helping here, but not sure they would like it if I did, but I want them to know that I appreciate all that they are doing from reviewing and reformatting my resume, passing it onto clients, and providing company leads.

Thank you all!

Purry {=}

Welcome to the world of the unemployed I've been here since Feb and although I've sent out probably 100 resumes, I've had 3 or 4 interviews. Doesn't help that I'm not getting unemployent either Best of luck to you and I hope we both find a job soon!

having been there many times, I can tell you it does take a while before you even start getting hits unless you have a network going. The averages say 1 reply per 10 resumes, 1 interview per 10 replies. Be of good cheer tho', you're in a good area for possibilities. I've been looking for a decent job since 1995 over here. You're young, attractive, articulate, and intelligent. You'll have no problems Purry. Joe

hey there - in the same boat. Stay positive. I have a third round this friday that I'm nervous about. I have never ever done a teleconference Send me an email - maybe I can use the university data base to help you look for something cool - there's lots of more "selective" postings here - if you know what I mean

Job-hunting sucks! But it's always about being in the right place at the right time (or knowing the right person) so stick to it and you are sure to succeed. (Plus who could resist you once they had seen you?) Best wishes on the search!

Hi Purry Kitty,

If you need any help or advice, mail me.

I have worked in this sector for 4 yrs and manage a large recruitment agency in England. If I can help I will.

I know what it's like having to look for employment. Been there just prior to 9/11. Out of work for 1-1/2 years. That's when I started the challenging road to self-employment. It was a Rocky road travelled but well worth it...I keep hoping. Keep sending those resume's out there and stay optimistic. Best of luck!

This is the best opportunity, I've come across. I'm glad I'm not working behind a desk other then my computer or in a hot factory.

I wish I had some magic advice to move you to the head of the line for a job you'd love. Most things I hope you already know, like make the resume' computer-scanner friendly, use any and all personal contacts as well as following newspaper ads, go to job fairs, etc. Signing up with a temporary agency might get you back into a job sooner, and sometimes a temporary posting can lead to an offer of full-time employment.

I'm sure everything is gonna work out for ya. Fate can be kind of fickle with your time, but it always looks out for you at the end of the line.

Hi Purry
Sandy is sleeping and I'm awake reading your blog posts again.
Neither of us have ever been unemployed unless it was by choice, and everything that occurs to me to say to you seems like a presumption. For whatever its worth though, we think youre so clever and so intelligent you cant possibly be unemployed for much longer.

In the UK, lots of people seem to turn to freelancing and self-employment. Is that possible for you, because I think you would be a great boss ?

Giving up is definitely not in the cards. You'll find something. Someone like you can't stay unemployed long. I am glad you received the help for the resume, but in the end you will land a job, because you want it! Good Luck!

As someone who gets to interview and hire people, I hate to say it but your personality (which is obviously outstanding) and looks (which are obviously outstanding) will get you far.

My wife has never not gotten a job (same combination) that she's interviewed for.

Good luck and hang in there.

You will get a job so fast, your head will spin. However if you want, move to California and I can help ya. Just kidding I know Mr. Sail will not like that.
Anyway, I know you will get something very soon. Till then keep smiling!!!
