Gas Gouging

So, there seems to be a bit of an increase in gas prices lately huh? At the same time, oil companies post record profits and hide behind good ole supply and demand.

And a lot of Americans are whining about it because they feel it in their wallets. Well, to be honest, I put no blame on the oil companies. Yeah, we're getting fucked by them, and not in that good porno way. Yeah, they're greedy mega corps who are no doubt working the prices to their advantage. But you know what? They're in the business of making money. And we're gullible stupid wasteful Americans who help them do it.

Look, before you can even think about complaining about gas prices, you have to get rid of your SUV and turn the lights off when you leave the room. I don't like getting ripped off anymore than the next guy, but we're doing it to ourselves. And frankly, I hope the prices keep climbing, because there is NO reason for Americans to still be driving gas powered vehicles and burning coal/oil for eletricity and heat. At some point, those prices will pass the boundary of what people can afford to pay, and we'll finally, finally stop using freaking oil. Hell, Brazil is running entirely on sugar cane or something of that nature now. If America wants to continue to be the world leader in innovation and technological superiority, then we goddamned well better stop using century old technology.

So unless you're like me, driving as little as possible in a nice compact good mileage car, turning lights off all the time, shutting off things you're not using, and generally trying to avoid overconsumption like the rest of fatass America, don't complain about gas prices. And, you shouldn't even be complaining about gas prices then, you should be complaining about where the Mr. Fusion engine from Back to the Future II is.

I say fuck you oil company. I want to drive a car that runs on something that doesn't burn anything, doesn't give off hazardous wastes, and never runs out. And fuck you too government, for trying to take advantage of the situation by taxing the oil companies more so that they'll raise the prices again. And if more people would echo that sentiment, maybe, just maybe, America would bring our methods of transportation into the 21st century.

Over the last few days the prices in my area have gone down a tiny bit...but I'd like to see it under $2.00 per gal.

It'd be nice, but it wouldn't solve any long term issues.
