When Best Friends and Lovers Meet

I had an interesting experience yesterday evening. One of my best friends, who happens to be a guy, and my lover met for the first time. My lover and I stopped by my friend John’s house on the way to run errands so I could pick up an item I had lent him. To explain why John and I are best friends and not more is because we are too much alike in personality and life experience. He also has a teenaged daughter that is a year and a half only than my teenaged daughter. Need I say more? For that reason and others, we work together; we are just very close friends. John has known about my lover since the first time I met him and started dating him. In fact John and his daughter helped me get ready for my first date with my lover. I had broken my ankle a week before and I was in a cast so my mobility was nil. He has also given me advice and insight into dealing with the way men think and feel. I too return the favor of insight into feminine thinking.

Well last night the two met. I felt very awkward. I was afraid John would give my lover the speech: “If you hurt her, I will kill you.” It actually went a lot better then I had hoped. Both men are partially civilized so there wasn’t a pissing contest, or one I wasn’t aware of. Now I wish both men would tell me their opinion of the other one, but I am not sure I truly want to know. There are some things a woman is just better off not knowing and I believe this may be one of them.

I've had enough ladyfriends and have always met their lovers at one time or another. Sometimes its difficult for the first several minutes, but the casualness of conversation and honest care for the woman seems to put the lover at ease a bit. I'm an open person anyway and don't get offended easily...and being 6'1"/215/former Marine doesn't bring too many guys to my face.

I would have to agree that being that size would be a great advantage in dealing with other men. I know that I value both men's opinion so when they met I wanted both men to like each other. I don't want them to be friends.
