My New Job

With my new job I spend my time either working on a Panel Saw, ironing edging or driving a ute around making deliveries or pick ups of wood panel products.

Yesterday I spent the day driving all over Melbourne visiting various factories and warehouses to drop off or pick up materials. I am not sure how many kilometres I did but I went everywhere. I left Fairfield and drove to Scoresby, then down Stud Road to Dandenong South, back up to the top of Stud Road and across to Kilsyth. I then turned and headed back towards Fairfield and was half way back at the intersection of Springvale Road and Maroondah Highway when the boss rang up on the ute mobile and told me to head towards Clayton for another pick up. So I turned and headed down Springy Road turned up the Princes Highway and up to Clayton for my pick up. I then headed back to Fairfield for lunch. After lunch a quick delivery to a factory in Preston, which was fun as it was tucked away in a lane and had no signs outside.
Quickly back to the factory to pick up a load and then head across town and over the river to Williamstown. Unload and then head back towards Fairfield.

The best part of 8 hours in a ute with only a plastic sheet for a back window and zipping all over Melbourne and my brain was zapped. Fortunately 20 plus years of driving all over most of Melbourne to get to work means I know most of the major roads, and as long as I have my Melways with me I can get there and and back.

Personally I like my days to be split between driving and working in the factory but some days the mix is all one way.

The only problem with driving someone elses vehicle is that its not a Toyota. I have grown very used to my Toyota Hi Ace van and the thing about this ute is just how much larger the turning circle is when compared to my van. The ute sucks and having a plastic sheet for a back window is bloody noisy.

Still I'm getting paid by the hour and I'm not wearing out my van, so that's a double bonus.

Working, and working for wages after a long lay off takes some getting used to. You dont realize just how conditioned to work you become.

If you do, Purry, will you be needing a Spanish translator?

We dont need a translator to understand that smile.

Damn that Sail is one Lucky Lucky Bastard, getting jumped by Purry the minute he gets home. I wonder if he goes to work to recharge is sex batteries. If anyone needs a identical clone its Sail, but who would decide on who goes to work and who stays pleasuring Purry. Oh the dilemma.
