Made Her Day

During Easter my neighbor was out the front of his house cleaning out the back of his fibreglass canopy Ute and his little boy N. who is about 2 1/2 was "helping" his Daddy. I could hear what was going on while sitting here at my desk and I was having a little chuckle and I had a grin from ear to ear. Finally I decided to go and say hello and have a bit of a chat with my neighbor.

My arrival was greeted with a enthusiastic hello and a tremendous grin from little N. He was enjoying bouncing around in the back of the Ute and pointing out different features of the canopy. His language skills are really coming along. The back of the Ute was just like a kid sized cubby house with the wheel arches acting like little seats. His dad appreciates my being there because he can get on with the cleaning knowing that I will be keeping N. under supervision as well to ensure he does not run on the road. N. is well behaved but its more to do with concern over how fast some people hammer down our street. Better safe than sorry.

Anyway while little N. was playing in the back of the Ute a young woman walks past on her way to the local shops. N. sees her through the side window and yells out a big Hello and Hi to her. She kept walking until I said to her "He said hello to you" at which point she stopped to turn and wave hello to N. who gave her a big Big smile. She quickly explained that she thought N. was talking to us [N.'s dad and I], but that she really appreciated the hello, and then she headed off towards the shops.

A short while later the young woman came walking back and headed straight for me. She handed me a little kiddie size Milky Way for N. with the comment; " He Really Made My Day with that Big Hello". We all just grinned and little N. gave her another big smile.

Sometimes it takes a child to show us how a simple smile and a hello can spread cheer.

Try it yourself tomorrow.

Our boy proves this day in, day out.

When we don't feel like smiling, we can't help it when he smiles at us.

Beckie after having cuddled not so little Bradman [he is going to be a big lad folks] I can attest to your comment. Give him a big cuddle for me.

Jim, I think you mean that you are registering your approval of my story as in "I'll second that", given you were the fifth comment. On the other hand you could be pleading the "Fifth" Amendment to the US Constitution, but for what reason I don't know as your a straight up law abiding type guy, so I would say my first assumption is correct.

Purry how could any one be nasty to such a charming belle as you??? One flash of that winsome smile of yours would have to melt even the hardest of hearts, I'll bet Sail can never say No to you.
