Flatlined

Well, last night it finally happened.

My TV, flat-lined. sound ok, but it has been buzzing, but now there is no picture apart from a 3mm [1/8th"] horizontal line across the screen.

22 years of service. It was one of the first things I bought as an Apprentice Carpenter.

Ive watch a lot of TV and videos on that set.

Ive seen both Space Shuttles blow up, and all manner of documentaries.

It has been with me through a few house moves, and always done its job.

I got my money's worth out of it thats for sure.

I wonder just how many hours of my life have been spent in front of it.

Too many probably.

I hope that this post wasnt to Long or Bored you.

They dont make technology like they used to Mustang. Things were built to last when you tv was produced.

My family had a tv when i was a kid and it finally gave up after 25 years. Have not managed to keep one since for longer than 4-5 years. The one i have an the moment is not quite 3 years old and the picture and sound have started to go already. Why dont they start making things to last again!!

Get a new Sony or Panasonic TV. I've had good luck with them. Sorry your old friend finally expired!

Ally, you have raised an interesting point. 20 or so years ago a TV was still a major purchase, now you can buy a TV for under $100 depending upon size or you can spend $1000's.

It used to be that you would get the TV repaired, at least once a year. Now they are not worth the service call cost.

Disposable TV's; Like bums, everybody's got one.

TT I would if I had the $$, but I dont, so it looks like its time to try out a disposable TV.
Besides, there are only a handful of factories which make the tubes, and so with everything coming out of China now, they will probably come fom the same factory.

This is very true amber. I would be in a real pickle if I hadnt been given and or bought a couple of really old colour TV's, so I can at least watch some programs. If my internet goes down as well, then things will get really bad, with total withdrawl symptoms.
