I Quit

Today is the day that I am going to quit smoking.

I am not going to smoke from now on, never.

Unless maybe one of my fellow smokers stops over today. Then I might bum just one.

So, unless someone stops by and offers me a smoke, I will never smoke again.

Okay, if something really shitty happens and I need one, two, or a pack to calm my nerves, I might stop by the store and get just one last pack.

So, unless I get a visit from a fellow smoker or I happen to go to the store in a bad mood, I will never smoke again.

Hmmm, I can smell cigarette smoke. My window is open and I think my neighbor is outside having a smoke. I could go out and say hi. Just to be polite. Maybe bum one smoke so the poor guy doesn't have to smoke alone.

So, unless someone visits me, something shitty happpens, or I venture outside, I will never smoke again.

ROFL Now that was an amusing read. Here's wishing you luck, either by reinforcing your love of a vice, or of getting away from an addiction.

Reminds me of an amusing anecdote:
A dear friend of mine spends a month of each year putting aside all his vices. The idea is to purge his system while proving that he can quit smoking/drinking/whatever and is thus not an addict. His girlfriend is a non-smoker, and this is where things get amusing. Because, you see, they both get the jitters during his month of not smoking. Because she's addicted to second hand smoke.

i've tried quitting so many times i've lost count. here's how it usually goes for me: first 3 days - i'm homicidal; next 3 - i'm genocidal; at that point somebody buys me a pack...

if you're serious, Mariluv, then i wish you good luck

Good luck.

I 'quit' cold turkey several years ago, and I did it by telling myself I just wasn't going to buy any more smokes nor bum any. I didn't tell anyone about it. When someone offered I'd say no thanks, not right now...it took four days for my friends to put together that they hadn't actually seen me smoking in a bit.

Okay, okay, I cheated!! I bought two ounces and rolled up a bunch of fatties and whenever I wanted a cig I toked on one.

It did manage to last me a little over two years, and then something pretty fucked up happened and I started again. I only smoke when I drink, though, and that's not every day anymore, lol.

Good luck!!

(What the fuck is this shit..?? *rolls eyes*)

LMAO...If you REALLY want to quit give this a shot. I've been weaning myself off them for about 6 months now...First start off by NOT smoking any more than ONE cig an hr, than work your self up to ONE cig ever TWO hrs. And find something to do when your watching TV like Hook Rug or knitting, picking your nose or ass, hell basket weaving if need be, just DO SOMETHING other than mindlessly lighting a smoke...If a little tough at first especially in the morning. If you can get pass that first cup of coffee with just ONE smoke the rest of the days a breeze. And start walking that an easy hr to kill...It's more than the physical addiction it a learned behavior...UNLEARN IT and GOOD LUCK...Ready

Seriously, good luck, I hope it works out for you. Smoking is so bad for you and everyone around you.

I'll be here cheering you on!! Go for it!

Good luck, just keep trying, it is well worth it in the end, set something aside to reward yourself with in a few weeks. Nice being able to get through it, even though I was pissed off at everyone reminding me they couldn't talk right now because they were going on smoke break....aggghhhhh.

Three years free and enjoying it...hang in there.

Good luck! I know it is a terribly hard habit to quit. But if you can do it....you'll never be sorry. Do you know that just 4 days after your last cigarette....your lungs begin to heal themselves! You can do it!!!!
