Friends come in all shapes & sizes. I've known quite a few people, few I've considered friends. Oh, that's not to say I haven't been friendly, it's just I'm choosey when it comes time to allow that person in to be a friend.
I guess I consider a friend someone I can count on in times of crisis, someone I can confide in - knowing that information will not go anywhere - someone that will tell me honestly if I'm doing the right/wrong thing.
I know a person who is always down on themself. Constantly berating themself, making fun of themself and in general trying to focus everyone's attention upon the negative attributes they possess. This kind of pisses me off, that this person cannot see the wonderful qualities they posses.
So they don't look like Britney Spears/Brad Pitt.... this person looks special all by themself.
What have I observed of this person? A wonderful sense of humor, a "No Quit" attitude, someone that is desperate to find that one true love and many other attributes. Oh this person has met a few people of the same/opposite sex, but this person is too afraid of being hurt to allow someone in close.
When a person wears their heart on their sleeve, it sometimes gets stomped on, ripped up & outright stolen. But it's those times that we have to learn from mistakes made by ourselves or by that other someone & move on. Trying to hide behind a "phoney public mask" can be hurtful to others that care about you. It also makes people wary of the types of people that are out there looking.
They will ask themself "is this person for real?, is this person a player? is that person just going through the motions, saying what I want to hear?" All those questions come to mind when we are first contacted. Especially here on the internet.
But from my own experience, I can say with certainty, that special someone is out there. We just have to be willing to find them. They are looking just as hard for you as you are for them.
So, am I talking about someone here on AdultFriendFinder? Could be. But I could just as easily be talking about myself. If you think this is me, email me here, I'll answer.
