I so do not want to leave for work in 20 minutes. The weekend went so quickly.
I have to work another 2-week rotation with this operator who's just a nut. He's so anal-retentive. Everything with the machine has to be just so. I understand that the guy's merely striving for excellence, which is commendable, but it's difficult to keep up with at times. The guy's on prescription speed, so he's going miles a minute.
I'm more of a "slow and steady wins the race" kinda guy, I guess, but I still get along with him. I'm actually one of the few, because I stay busy the whole shift and I listen to what he has to say. It often makes sense, so that's how I do it. Bad thing is, since I get along with him, I often get scheduled with him, and there are other operators I'd rather work with.
He tried going off on me last week. We were shipping 22 rolls for this job, and we could fit 6 on a skid. He thought we were shipping 24 rolls, so when I started wrapping a skid of 4, he's like, "What the fuck are you doing?"
"We're shipping 3 skids of 6 and one of 4, so I'm wrapping up the 4."
"No, 4 skids of 6."
So I walked over and grabbed the job sheet. "Then why does it say we're shipping 22?"
He backed off. My heart was racing, though. Somewhere down the line I turned into a very non-confrontational person, so it felt good to stand my ground against someone with an overbearing personality.
Anyway, time to fly.
