Porno in Ancient Egypt

Most people believe that Ancient Egyptian art was very staid..stiff..prim and proper. Well..those ancient Egyptians weren't as uptight as some of us might think.
In the "high" art of the ancients..sexuality is only suggested..such as when a husband and wife are shown in temple and tomb murals and reliefs. They're usually shown sitting demurely side by side.
Many Egyptologists believe that the sexuality was encoded in symbols. For instance..in the depictions of fruit..birds..salves..musical instruments..beds and other objects.
However..in the "low" art of the masses..Egyptian artists were explicit with their erotic renderings. It's a pity that only one scroll has survived. This erotic work is known as the Turin Erotic Papyrus..and is believed to have been painted in the Ramesside period..1292-1075 B.C.E. It is now in the Egyptian Museum in Turin Italy. (Another stolen artifact. But then that's a whole nother topic.)
The scroll consists of a continuous series of graphic scenes..drawn on a papyrus scroll about 8.5 feet long and 10 inches high.
It's read from right to left. The first 3rd of the scroll shows animals and birds performing various human tasks. (Due to space restraints..I did not include that section here).
Most of the scroll..depicts sexual acts between unkempt "lower class" men and attractive young women..presumably of a "higher class". Seems these folks were into some of the same kinky things as many of us today. Some Egyptologists believe the scroll pokes fun at the upper classes and is a commentary on the affected morals and love poetry of the elite. Many of the poems are full of sensuous and erotic imagery.
In the following poem..a young woman tells her lover:
"My heart desires to go down to bathe myself befor you.
That I may show you my beauty
in a tunic of the finest royal linen
I'll go down to the water with you
and come out to you carrying a red fish
which is just right in my fingers.
I'll set it before you,
while looking upon your beauty.
Oh my hero, my brother, (supposedly just a term of endearment)
Come, look upon me.
(??? I've gotta wonder just how accurate this translation really is)

Interesting...as you always are.|
Makes you wonder why so few of these survived....I wonder if the Pharoes had their version of the porn police...or subsequent "discoverers" burnt what offended them as too many have done over the ages....
I've found a neat round stone with a hole in it 1000 years old...which the scientists claim is a digging stick weight...but I also found a "mano" that is penis shaped and fits the hole perfectly. Stone porn....

I remember a museum of erotica in Stuttgart, Germany with a whole trove of "stolen" artifacts. It seems that erotica is as old as the human race.|
