Music Times..And Memories

It's 3:15 in the AM. I'm sitting here at my computer listening to an infomercial on TV. Classic Soul Ballads..songs from the 70's and 80's. I have a lot of these songs on cassette tapes..some on CDs.

As the bits of songs play..I'm smiling. The list of artists and songs..goes on and on. This one is something I'd spend my money on. It brings back so many memories. My kids were still young. It was an intense period in my life.

Just hearing the names..and the snippets of the songs invokes images..and feelings of those times.

Many of the artists from that time are still around..some are gone. And..yes..while there are many talented..more recent artists out there..some I listen to..but the music just isn't the same.

I bet you remember..

Al Green.. Let's stay together..

Aretha Franklin

Barry White

The Commodores

Anita Baker

Patti LaBelle

Marvin Gaye.."Lets get it on"..

Billy Paul.."Me and Mrs Jones"..

Bill Withers.."Ain't no sunshine when she's gone".

Gladys Knight & the Pips.."Midnight train to GA"..

Luther Van Dross.."Here and now"..

The Temptations

Earth Wind and Fire.."Shining star"..

Patti Austin

Stevie Wonder.."My Cherie Amour"

The Fifth Dimension

Isley Brothers

Peabo Bryson

Chaka Khan

Minnie Ripperton

Freddie Jackson.."You are my lady"..

Smokey Robinson

The Miracles

Peaches and Herb

Teddy Pendergrass.."Turn off the lights"

The Spinners

Isn't it funny how music
..certain songs..sometimes serve as markers for events..important times in your life?

Humming as I type..enjoying the memories. Feel free to add the names/tunes that you recall.

I missed the Temptations there -- but lets add the Supremes - I loved them when I was growing up and thought Diana Ross was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen.

Hi Lady...
Don't know how I could have overlooked the Supremes. Lots of groups and single artists I didn't mention. But..there's so many great ones!

What? No Four Tops? No Martha and the Vandellas? Mary Wells? Shirelles? Sam & Dave?

I'll never forget my friends Kiss. I'll be around now and then. Joe
