A dear friend of mine sent me this picture tonight. It's a mural she just had framed for her apartment. It's of a location in Greece..where she lived for several years when she was a little girl.

I used to work with her. She speaks three a very bright woman..and what I call..cute as a button. It's interesting to some of the other women in the work place reacted to her. They were downright hostile. They gossiped about her..and in fact..treated her pretty shabbily. My sense is that they were jealous of her. Still pisses me off..when I think about it.

Never has made much sense to me why some people are jealous of others..because of how they look..or their abilities..or what they have. I guess..she gravitated toward me..because I was the only woman in our work area..who showed her any kind of warmth and friendship.

We spent some time chatting's been awhile. When she sent me the picture..I knew..she was thinking of moving back to Greece..and told her so. Yes...she confirmed..she will be moving back..but not for a couple of years. least I'll have a place to stay..when I visit. But..I'm going to miss her.

Jealousy takes over where envy leaves off. I envy a lot of people, mostly who are better off financially. However, I'm not jealous, because I would still rather be me than them. Jealous people usually try to bring the target of their feelings down to their level, which is as a rule several notches below normal. Actually if I ever found out that someone was jealous of me I'd be flattered. Other than my wife, I've never had anything that anyone ever wanted that badly. Joe

We mock what we don't understand. Must be that her co-workers weren't bright enough to understand her and her intellect. Luckily for her... there was you!
