Experience Tells me

After many years of chatting on IRC and Yahoo, I have decided that the internet is truly a woman's world. It can be a frustrating place for us mere pond scum.

Okay, so I must finally admit that I did what so many frustrated male, would-be chatters have done. I tried it using a female nickname. Damn! What a difference a nickname can make. Talk about getting attention! But still, it was not fulfilling. Those people were chatting with someone who didn't exist--not with ME. (My wife laughed the whole time, telling me a was a real bitch.) It was a worthwhile experiment though.

Now, I'm back to being plain ole pond scum.

I would love to hear your thoughts, your opinions, and of your experiences. The invitation is open to women and pond scum alike.

No question about it, Steve, sexually oriented internet chat sites are truly a woman's world. Let's face it, if you saw any 7 out of 10 of the typical AdultFriendFinder ladies walking down the street, would you even notice? Much less, run accross traffic, slam your head into the gutter and literally beg for their attention?

Isn't this basically what happens to/for these ladies everyday in chat? It is most certainly an unreal world experience and in my short time around here I'm convinced that it bends their (many of them anyway) sense of their own importance and impacts their worldview in a less than positive way.

On the other hand, some of the women on AdultFriendFinder seem to be completely unaffected by the experience and remain real to the core. Perhaps this AdultFriendFinder chat thing offers just one more microcosim of life.

Steel Legs:

I agree with you on everything except the "...and impacts their worldview in a less than positive way."

I think it affects most of them in a "positive" way. Finding a place where one can feel "important" or "popular" or "appreciated" is never a bad thing. We all need a place like that. Us pond scum find that at work more often than most women do (or at least that's my take on it).

Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your comments, Mo and Amber.

I tried a little experiment. I created a message that said something to the effect that I'm a writer (which I am) and I'm writing a book on the whole Women vs Pond Scum thing (which I am), and that I would appreciate hearing comments, opinions, or experiences (which I would). Then I sent that message to the first five females listed in the first five states listed. It's been 48 hours, with not a single comment from any of them.

Oh well, obviously they are busy lol.
