Propaganda in Washington

The following was printed in the "Independent news" yesterday. The contributing author on the piece was by Andrew Buncombe from Washington:

"Federal authorities are actively investigating dozens of American television stations for broadcasting items produced by the Bush administration and major corporations, and passing them off as normal news. Some of the fake news segments talked up success in the war in Iraq, or promoted the companies' products."

I did not reprint the whole story, because I don’t want to appear like someone that just posts other people's works without having a brain or thought of my own. If you want to read the story than find it on news dot independent dot co dot uk. (Hoping that will post). The reason I posted this is because it disturbs me. The article goes on to discuss how the FCC discovered that the Bush administration and other companies have usurped federal law regarding advertising or reporting of fake news stories and are using the news media to spread their rumor and innuendo. What this boils down to people is propaganda. and in case you need it further explained, think of the Soviet Union, China, and the best example in history, Nazi Germany. The Nazi's used propaganda through media outlets to promote their "Master Race" idea to the unknowing German people in the 30's and 40's. Now I am not saying the US is becoming Nazi-esque, but this is the beginning of the government's attempt to try and manipulate the public into believing that everything is "ok" at home and abroad.

I for one don’t like the idea of our government doing this type of thing, I have a mind of my own, and I don’t need some bureaucrat in Washington telling me things are going smoothly when in fact I know that is not the truth. Bush lies, Condi lies, Rumsfeld lies, they all are lying to us, and as we get further down the road they will continue to attempt to remove more freedoms and liberties from us, and Congress will be powerless to stop them due to the fact that currently the Republicans CONTROL Congress. I urge all of you out there to vote in November and remove EVERY incumbant from office in both the House and the Senate. Clean house, get em out, start over. Send a message to the White House that depite all of their efforts, the country STILL belongs to he American people.

what is your opinion???

My opinion is that you may perhaps have a political axe to grind! Being a reformed conservative, a newly enlightened Lib, I now take my news only from the New York Times which uses informants (paid or otherwise) within the U.S. government to obtain leaks of classified information and develop popular stories thereupon. This is, of course, much more reliable and truthful. By the way, did you know that the current east coast flooding has been a diabolical scheme by the Bush administration, headed up by Dick Cheney, who also holds a degree in meteorology. Yes, spread it around the internet!
