Monday - The day after

Body sore, feet tired, head pounding, I sit here the day after my move and I just want it to be all over with. I haven't moved in over six years and I forgot just how much I hate doing it. You never realize how much CRAP you accumulate over several years until you pull it out and move it to another place. A friend of mine told me yesterday that he always travels light in the off chance he has to move again. After yesterday I can definitely see his point.

My day started at 8 AM, I caught up on the blogs, had my morning coffee, and after a little while began the journey. For those of you that are planning a move make sure you budget enough for a truck, I made the mistake of not doing that. I have to move my entire belongings in my car and Jen's hubby Darren had to use their Durango to move some of the larger items. There is still more that needs to be moved and we have enlisted a friend of Darren's to use his truck for that later in the week. The most interesting thing was moving my cats. I have two 6 year old Tabby's and they have never known another home than the one we just moved from. They were scared, and did not have a clue as to what was going on. I got them here and I can see it will take them a while to adjust, not to mention there is alreay another cat here, she is a tempermental bitch and my "kids" will have to adjust to her territory. There also is a small wiener dog here that just loves to bark at the drop of a hat, he is a big chicken though and I dont think he will be a problem.

All in all I am slowly getting to the point of relief that it will be over soon. I have a lot of work left to do, but will be glad when it is over.

What is your most vivid moving experience?

Wow I actually have a moving day experience..Back in 92 I believe,I left Queens after finding a reasonably priced apartment in BayRidge Brooklyn and I had my friend help me move..he was a FWB btw and also a terrific friend and he was more than happy to help me get out of that other place. He had a pickup truck,a large one so we were able to do this in 1 trip..while on the Belt Parkway..we heard a thump and I turned around to see both my mattress and box spring on the road down a ways..I yelled..MY BED!!!!..thank goodness not much traffic and we pulled over, walked over to the bedroom roadkill.. and put it back on the truck, tying it better..but that bed was never the same after that..the wood on the box spring over the years (from the work outs I gave it hehe) basically was falling apart, the mattress..well,do not understand how 1 time falling off a pickup truck could warp it,but it did and I slept many a year on a warped mattress..even the work outs did not straighten it out..oh and he also broke my lamp and did not tell me till I tried to put it together and noticed it did not fit snugly in the grooves..oh well,I still thanked him in my own special way for the move nad that was pretty vivid too *grinz* fact all in all,it was an amusing, and hot very hot moving day *big grinz*..not like yours eh? LOL

In 97....... I left my husband and knew we were through.
I had prepared for about 2 weeks. Packed as time went on. Our dining room was filled with boxes.
~~I left him with all he needed to live. One set of living room furniture. Half of the dishes. The bed! I bought another for myself. I was totally fair.
....... I was sitting in the moving truck, we were saying our goodbyes.... I shook his hand. Told him, to "have a good life". I didn't hug him though. I respected him. He just, "didn't get it". Still doesn't.

Since then....... it's been what it's been. Moved several times. But there are none more memorable than that one.

Have a good one,

I moved 5 times in one year... I've gotten pretty good at it, but despise it. The next time I move, I'm getting a moving company to do it.

My most vivide moving experience was a year ago... moving my parents out of their house in Redington Shores. It took three storage units to hold all their stuff, and they lived out of their RV until they found a house to buy a month later. So, in the space of two months, I had to move my parents TWICE. Yuck!

Let me drive. I like the view
