I called him dad for 12 years

I called him dad for a few years in my life. My ex called him dad her entire life. Now, in 2006, along with Jen's husband, their children, my son and myselfe, we are all deep in thought and reflection of a man who has recently been diagnosed with a dibilitating cancer. My ex father-in-law has colon cancer, and although he has not been my "dad" in over 11 years, I still consider him a part of my family. I have not personally talked to him, but through Jen, I have learned how much he is suffering. He has a constant I-V of chemotherapy, and he has radiation treatments daily. I am praying for him to recover, to be strong, but I also fear he was diagnosed too late.

He is 55 years old, seemingly too young to have something like this to happen, he should have been more diligent in his checkups, he should have taken better care of himself. As with his daughter, he is also a sufferer of Chron's disease. He says that he thought for the last year he was having a chron's flare, so therefore he did not worry too much. he watched his diet and hoped for the best. Now it appears his oversight is going to cost him his life, I am sad, pissed, and confused as to how something like this could happen to a man I have known for 12 years, the entire lifetime of my son. I will be praying for him.
