Our Son is Back!!!!
Our Son is Back!!!!
Being busy sucks. Life has a way of taking you in unexpected directions and right now I'm being pulled in several at once. Unfortunately, I've missed going to Vice Versa the past two weeks and I'm starting to get bitchy about it. I was especially looking forward to last week, 'cause it was Toga Party time and I was looking forward to seeing the costumes everyone came up with.
I did manage to squeak in a little time on my website redesign. I'm not envisioning it to be a spectacular be-all-end-all tgirl resource, just a small vanity site. But who knows; I do enjoy designing sites so I may find some way to grow it down the road. Right now I'm trying to learn some CSS hacks for Windows Internet Explorer so my fixed position background images work on that browser. In putting together the site, I realized that I have very few pictures to share. I've purged so many times over the years, and each time I've destroyed any pictures I had...Gosh that was stupid. To tell you the truth, I've ever been all that keen on taking pictures anyway. I know I'm liable to lose my tgirl license over this, but I just prefer to enjoy being out and get sick of trying to get the background just right, strike a decent pose, etc. All that crap just cuts into my time on the dance floor.
Last night, we had the most wonderful surprise; our son arrived home for a visit!!! Yeah!!! He was stationed in Afghanistan the past 6 months and we have been anxiously awaiting his return for more than 2 weeks. He actually arrived in the States last week, but had to take care of military and personal matters before he could come down. He brought us some beautiful things and we're overjoyed to have him back safe and sound. Before leaving Afghanistan, he volunteered to deploy to Korea, so he may not be in the U.S. long. This deployment would be a year long, but afterwards he has his pick of bases, so it will be worth it in the long run.
Several of our son's friends and cousins have known about Jocelyn for awhile, so we decided it was only fair to tell him. We talked last night and it went exceptionally well. We expected he would take the news in stride, but he went so far as to say that having that knowledge explains why I have been such a good father to him! That made my day, especially in light of the fact that I am his stepfather and did not come into his life until he was 5 yo. What a blessing to have such a fine son....
