One miracle; not twelve

From overwhelming joy to overwhelming grief in a few short hours; the West Virginia mine rescue attempt is one of the saddest stories I've ever heard. My wife and I rejoiced when we heard the news that 12 of the miners had been found alive. A few hours later, as we went to bed, we heard the stunning reversal; only one was alive and in critical condition. It now appears that someone misunderstood communication between the rescuers and the command post; prematurely announcing they were alive.

What can one say? Truly it is a miracle that even one man survived this ordeal; however, many questions remain. My thoughts and prayers are with Randall McCoy Jr., who is still in critical condition. I can't begin to describe the sadness I feel for the families of the victims. May God comfort them in their time of grief...
