Man, people are gonna think that I'm pissy *all the time* if I keep complaining, but you know what? This one's gotta be said - telemarketers are the scourge of the earth. Why do I say this? If you are home at any time of the day for any reason, you'll find out exactly what I mean. Your phone will ring *constantly*.
"Hi, is the lady of the house in?" No.
"When will they be in?" Never, for you.
"Can I leave a message?" You can, but it won't make a bit of difference.
"Would you be interested in hearing about -?" The only thing I'm interested in is returning to my sleep, now interrupted for the seventh time in an hour.
"We have a special offer today -" Didn't you hear the answer to your second question? Hasn't it penetrated yet? I'm not interested.
Now I know that people have to make a living. I'm not against whatever form it takes. What I *am* against is when I went through all the bother to register my telephone number on the Do-Not-Call List (courtesy of the federal gubmint - should have known better on *that* count), and yet I *still* get calls. Report them all you like - they'll still keep coming. I have done no business with Cingular (not that I would, they're overpriced) or Verizon in the last 90 days that I'm aware of. Hey, wait - isn't Verizon my telephone company? It sure is - so I'm *forced* to take these calls because I've done "business" with them? Pardon me, but *what* the hell, you know?
I know that these people who call are only doing their job - fine, understood. But I have a job, too - unfortunately mine is at night and I'm usually dead asleep (and tired) between 6am and 2pm. If I get 7 telemarketing calls in an hour - how am I expected to sleep? I shouldn't *have* to unplug my phone - which is what I've been doing here lately to get people to stop calling here.
The next time this happens, I'm going to be nice and patient. I'm going to listen to all of their sales pitch, get their names and numbers, the whole bit - and then I'll sue them for the requisite 11k each. At 77,000 dollars, I figure that I won't have to work for a couple of years. Then I *can* sit at home and tell these people to piss off.
Sounds like a plan to me.

Ooh, I love it now...Evrytime I pick up a telemarketing or bill collectors call there's a voice recording that says "please hold the line for an important message."...hey thanks for the warning...CLICK....|
But I recently moved into a new apartment and a friend gave me this awesome cool grandiose new (well new to me) phone..only catch is the caller ID screen is blank so I'm playing russian roulette everytime the phoe rings....
