This isn't my story to tell, but it's too funny not to share, and this is the only audience I can tell it to. Besides my mother and sister, that is.

Break room conversation the other day revolved around the shocking (yeah, right) announcement that WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes has come out as a lesbian. Which led to one of my coworkers sharing this story:

You see, said co-worker has a minor hearing problem. Plus she has something of an accent too. She's Hispanic but from Canada, so I can't really define the accent in a way that you could "hear" it... So she was talking about "butch" lesbians, except that she says for the longest time, she was hearing it as "bush." Which, incidentally, is pretty well how she pronounces the "ch" sound anyway. And thinking, quite naturally, that the "bush" half of the lesbian couple, was the one who had a lot of hair down there. (I guess she somehow figured that in all lesbian couples, one is shaved and one is natural?) So she always wondered how people could tell which one was the bush one and which one wasn't, just by looking. Finally, she asked some friends - who promptly fell out laughing (as I'm sure we all would)... Bush, indeed...
