So somebody said it better than I could....

..well, almost.

One of the more discouraging points of current political discussion is the feeling of ill-will displyed in the television advertising, if not the actual conversations and interviews. At least we have progressed beyond the era of statments like, "I do not know if this is true, but i haveheard my opponent steals chickens, beats his wife, waters down his whiskey and.... cheats at cards!". But we haven't progressed too far.
Still maybe it is an integral part of the human political environment that there will always be those calling for civil behaivior, and those whose behaivior is anythng but civil.

Thomas Jefferson said, "Let us restore to social intercoursethat harmony and affection without which liberty and even life itself are but dreary things. And let us reflect that having banaished from our land that religious intolerance under which mankind so long bled and suffered, we have yet gained little if we countenance a political intolerance as despotic, as wicked, and as capable of bitter and bloody persecutions."
