The Eyes Have It

I like eyes. Poets talk about them being the window to the soul. I don't know about that. Poets rarely know anything about how the world really works. They also say bizarre things like "Life is a dancefloor and love is the rhythm." Or "O Towering cloud, Nature's breast, beladen of milk." What?! Enough about poets, let's get back to the eyes.

The first question I ask anybody we're chatting with or considering meeting is "Can I see a picture of your face, eyes and smile?" I'm not looking for sexy eyes. I'm not looking for a Pepsi-commercial smile. Neither am I looking for flawless skin, separate eyebrows, surgical scars or even an uninterrupted row of teeth (although that one is kind of important to me). No, I'm looking for hints of personality. You see, most people are armed to the teeth with carefully chosen action photos and anatomy shots. But when you ask them for their faces, they tend to pull them from their every day albums. They contain hints of a life outside the bedroom. And THAT's what I'm looking for.

So when we recently converted our account from my single, male status to a couple's account, we started wondering how to handle the profile photo. It's all well enough for somebody to recognize me. Aside from some minor embarrassment if I get accidentally outed to a colleague or family member, there's no real harm done. But my wife is very uncomfortable with being identified by non-lifestylers. So we had to find a way to be creative about the photo, but not blow cover. And that's when I thought about the eyes.

I'm including the new icon as an attached photo in this posting. What do you think? What impressions do you get from these eyes and the layout? I'm not sure the eyes are "smiling" enough. For my part, it's taken from my previous icon, to try to provide a hint of continuity from the old to the new. (In the picture, I'm squinting into the light a bit. Hence the steely expression.)

We may do a quick photo shoot tonight to try and capture more 'bedroomy' eyes for use in the icon. But I don't know. What do YOU think?

I am always amazed at how much more you can find out about people from pictures of their faces than you can from the anonymous body part shots that are all over this site. Body shots are enticing, but the eyes have it! I agree with girltech 47.. nice eyes.

I've never understood the concept of posing or bedroom eyes. Okay, yes I USE to model way back when, and I get a lot of compliments on my eyes... my first ever sultry comment was about a week or so ago... heh... I digress...

I've always considered it dorky to be given the 'bedroom eyes' look... personally I like the lusting after your partner look!! which is a lot more 'honest'...
