A Healthy Dose of Hypocracy

Am I the only one who finds it odd when I encounter a profile that says "We only meet with people who take care of their bodies." and then I look further down and see that they've checked one of the "smoker" buttons.

Even if they're just "social smokers", isn't that a bit like being a "social" heroin user or maybe an "occasional" glue sniffer? How is that "taking care of your body"?

We're by no means obsessive about fulfilling Madison Avenue's ideal of what people's bodies should look like. Truth be told, we're packing more cuddle than we were when we were twenty. But so what? To quote a fabulous life philosophy: "The point of life is not to arrive at the Pearly Gates in a pristine and well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways totally worn out, naked, clutching a beer in each fist and shouting, 'Holy Shit... What a ride!'"
