Same old conversation

I give my dad a call every week or two. I dread it most of the time because I know it will start off the same way.

Dad: So do you have a boyfriend?
Me: No
Dad: A girlfriend?
Me: No
Dad: Why not?

Do we have to go through this everytime?

He has finally accepted that I do not want children but seems to think I need to be in a relationship. Like he is one to talk. He hasn't actually dated since my mom divorced him in 1980.

Personally, I'd rather have a few close friends. Preferably with one or two who would enjoy mutually scratching that itch. What is wrong with that? So what if I want to be the crazy old cat lady when I get old?

Where does he live? I'm a great itch scratcher by the way...care to find out?

Still, don't blow him off completely. My dad and I were at odds for years, then he died in 1998 before we had a chance to reconcile. (The evil demonspawn he hooked up with after he divorced my mom in 1990 was a big factor in keeping us apart, though.)
