When did I become the throwing goddess?

I am a throwing goddess now. (well, not really, but an entire class thinks I am) Yesterday we had our first throwing session in class. The teacher gave a short demo and assigned us the task of throwing 10 bowls. I was a bit aprehensive since I had not thrown anything in a month but I grabbed my 8 balls of clay (each measured to be 1 - 1.5 lbs) and proceeded to throw 8 bowls in a row. Beautiful, on-center, thin rounded perfect bowls. Most other people were struggling to center or were making the thick bottomed, razor edge rimmed clunky things that everyone starts out making. I did get a few comments from classmates, but I deflected them saying that I really had a lot more time on them, that I had taken throwing twice at another school, and that I had practiced all over the summer throwing cups. Personally, I was surprised that I was able to throw one bowl, much less many in a row. I've had this picture in my head of me as "not a thrower". All that practice with the cups really paid off. I'll be done with my 10 bowls by tomorrow, but I already know that the teacher is not going to accept them. I wouldn't try turning them in. If I can throw little perfect bowls on the first day, then that means I need to spend the next week throwing larger perfect bowls. I need to reach the throwing area where I'm unsure and push that boundry. Its exciting and I'm looking forward to trying some 3lb and 5lb bowls.

I can see now that everyone is getting pottery for the holidays

Last night I had a killer headache. It started before throwing class and was there till at least 1 am. I took asprin around 7, went to bed, woke up at midnight with the headache still, went back to sleep. Freaking headaches.

Today: work all day, do math homework at night.

I love the wheel, the feel of the clay as it travels across my fingers. But as i was not really very talented at it, i hated it
when my big redneck fingers would catch and tear the clay.....
many restarts for me. the redneck
