Started good..then got bad

My day was like one of those metal slides at a kid's playground. Started high then slid to the ground.

Went to listen to a guest artist lecture. Normally I'd skip this sort of thing, but my ceramics professor sought me out a few days ago and insisted that I be there. After the slide show from this guy (Fred Spaulding, btw), my prof announced that he wanted Mr. Spaulding to see the work of 2 students. He then pointed to me and a current grad student.

The artist looked over my work (I had 8 pieces on the table) and gave me some great feedback. Probably the best help i've ever had. Then he, the professor, and I sat and talked about grad schools for an hour. They went over all the grad schools, listing their opinions of what ones were worth attending. They tried to convince me down to Texas, but I told them no way. I want to go back to the Pacific Northwest. I miss rain. Fred passed me his card and told me to email him if I had any more questions (woo hoo, networking!)

After Fred left, I glazed a piece for a few hours and then loaded my kiln. I'll be there all day tomorrow firing it. I like to fire slow so that nothing blows up.

Finally managed to get everything cleaned up (I had made a total mess with the glazes, heck I had smears of it all over my arms) and trudged home.

Then, my day took a huge steaming dump. An academic advisor had left a message telling me that my other summer class was cancelled. This normally would not be a problem..except I've planned out every single class to graduate in Spring, and I needed this class to be taken on schedule. I spent 2 hours crawling through the school's online system to find a way to rearrange my schedule. Its going to be a pain in the ass to re-shuffle everything. I'm going to need signoffs, a large dose of charm to convince people to give me those signoffs, and just plain luck to get it all done.

The worst part is that since the class is cancelled, I won't have access to the lab for the next 2 months. I am right in the middle of working on my pieces to get into grad school and I need more time in the lab. I have about 5 decent pieces..and I need at least 5 more.

Can't do anything about it tonight, but I'm pretty upset. Going to ask the professor if there is a way he can let me in over the summer to continue working.

Surely there is a way to continue working. Especially considering all the $$$ you are spending on the training.

My headaches have completely decreased in the past ...looks like 2-3 weeks.

The only changes that i've made is that I decreased the amount of soymilk that I drink, and I've cut out all meat.

That may..or may not have anything to do with it.
